On advice from locals, told this is must for ahi poke in Kihei And it definitely did not disappoint. So good and also not overly expensive. Never thought I'd have such delicious ahi tuna from a liquor store ? 10/10 Highly recommend

Best poke on Maui and the kindest staff! We just left there about 30 minutes ago and I probably have mercury poisoning from the amount of ahi I just ingested. Poke was great! No chewy sinew - super soft, tender, and marinated perfectly. I got the fried garlic ahi and the Tamura's sauce ahi (this one I thought was best out of those two). Also got the spicy scallop poke. The scallop is cooked and put in a spicy Mayo sauce. This one was also very good but has a little bit more of that sea flavor, so just a warning if that's not your thing. The woman helping me was great. There's so much variety I really had no idea what to get and she did a great job helping me narrow it down! When it was time to pay, the man and the woman at the front were both so sweet. He held the door open for us as we exited too which was so unnecessary but so kind. Just really kind people and great poke!

Poke in a liquor store? We were extremely skeptical. And upon walking in, still dubious. HOWEVER… the poke is absurdly good. Frankly, I’m not sure if it’s even possible to get better. Who knew!!?? Oh wait! Apparently, everyone.

So fresh, great portion sizes, and great service. No frills either, just good fish and rice. This is the kind of poke I was expecting before coming to Maui and it’s way better than the fancy/overpriced restaurants.

This was one of our first stops on Maui as I was intrigued by the poke by the pound concept. We got a little of a bunch of varieties, which is what I loved about it. Yes, this is a liquor store and there are some snacks as well, like a convenient store. I wish there were crackers, but we ended up getting tortilla chips and rice to eat with our poke.First observation is that the chunks of tuna are big. I really liked that and the sauce was not too overpowering. We got the about 5 varieties and the cooked shrimp and the ninja was probably my favorite. It had a bold flavor, but not overpowering and the umami was on! Everything tasted fresh and the staff was super friendly.

People laugh when I tell them the best poke I had on the Island was from a liquor store, but it’s true! Thankfully I found out about Tamura’s because for ~$16 you get 2 large scoops of high quality Ahi (can choose up to 2 different flavors) and 2 scoops of rice. It was not only the most affordable, but honestly the best. It’s no nonsense and focuses on good quality tuna instead of giving you less tuna with tons of toppings. You can get Furikake sprinkled on top though.A lot of poke places only have a few flavors, but what I love about Tamura’s is there is such a wide selection of very different types. I got Ninja, Hot Shoyu, Shoyu, and Spicy garlic and all were amazing. The Ninja was my favorite followed by spicy garlic which was a very different flavor than the typical soy sauce based marinade. The Hot Shoyu wasn’t too spicy if you’re worried about it being too spicy.

Big chunks of poke but for the price it isnt worth it compared to other places in Maui. It does taste good and fresh but there is only white rice as an option.

Some of the best poke that I had in all of Maui; wife and I tried an assortment of different poke and other seafood salads. There was one poke salad that had these amazing little "sabeans" in them, that one was the wife's favorite. I liked the cured beef that they had, tasted just like pastrami. This is a must stop if you are in the area, if not in the area I would suggest you go there anyway.Good poke and friendly staff, and lots of alcohol to buy.

Best liquor store on the island. Great variety and good prices. We used to shop only at Costco or pack it in our checked bags. No more, we just run to Tamara's in Kihei or Lahaina.

Go to south maui fish company instead for poke, service provided is not good here, especially by the owner. If you order the poke bowl just know the rice comes out piping hot and will somewhat cook the poke if not eaten immediately. other than that the poke is great. The reason for one star is that our 6-pack of beer had spots of mold on the can and the exchange process was unfriendly by the owner. he was shaking his head at us because we didnt want to do a straight exchange as all the other 6 packs of that same beer also had mold. We decided on another brand and he made it seem as it was life or death even though we chose a cheaper beer. I had high hopes for this spot because peope rave about the poke. But with the customer service from the owner of the store being so stand offish, I will just stick with South Maui's poke, and go without if they sell out. As for the beer ill just hit up Aloha Discount for that. They have a better selection anyways and their customer service is great. Be kind to your customers and they will be kind to you.

I would give this 3.5/5 stars. It's located on the left end of the store like a little deli.I got the poke bowl which comes with 2 scoops of poke--it came out to about $15. I got the Tamura's special and hot shoyu, all the poke tuna. The flavors weren't distinct, as I couldn't tell the difference between the options I chose since they also looked pretty similar. The hot shoyu wasn't even hot and I don't think it had any kick. The fish was too mushy for my liking but it didn't have a bad or fishy taste. The pieces were cut into pretty good cubes too.Overall, not a bad place but I've had better poke before and had high expectations because of the yelp reviews.

Don't be alarmed by the typical liquor store presentation!!Yummmmmm! Melts in your mouth. I had no idea a liquor store would have some of the best poke I've ever tasted! I heard of this place from a local and immediately mapped myself to it. Boy they were right to recommend this. Everything we tried was amazing. The poke literally melts in your mouth and you just have an explosion of flavor. The folks that work behind the counter are very helpful in recommending what's popular!

Amazing poke at a great price! I got the spicy ahi sunrise poke and the salted ahi poke. Also the ocean salad which tasted great. The presentation wasn't great, but what do you expect from poke served at a liquor store. My only complaint is that the rice was a bit overcooked.

Hands down best poke on the island! I’ve been getting Tamura’s poke for years. I am very excited that their Kihei location finally has poke!

Don't even question buying poke from the counter at this liquor store - this hole in the wall spot is so good! You can order poke bowls with rice or containers of just poke. Be sure to get the furikake seasoning on top of the rice if you get the poke bowl - so simple but adds to the experience. Each poke bowl comes with your choice of 2 types plus 2 scoops of rice which is a good portion. In order to try as many as possible, we got 2 poke bowls their smallest size container of the Tamura special. Our favorites were the fried garlic ahi (the crispy garlic pieces went so well with the tuna which melts in your mouth) and the red salt (so simple but really highlights the flavor of the fish). The ninja and sunset poke were good too - the Mayo based spicy sunset sauce somewhat overwhelmed the flavor of the fish, but I think it's more of an our preference thing rather than quality! Wish we were in the Kihei area longer to go back.
