I have a friend that recently moved to this side of the island. So we've been shopping here about once a week. It's been fun watching the remodel come together. Plus the guys working are super helpful when it comes to hunting down items. As for my favorite part about shopping here is all the beautiful flowers when you first walk in. Safeway has some of the must try poke! I would really recommend the octopus! It's amazing! The people serving come off as angry but what can I say or do. I just enjoy my delicious poke! O

Arrived in Maui 12/27/22, and visited Safeway to stock up the rented condo. Triple crown of (1) store under construction, (2) whole sections like dairy and produce unstocked, and (3) prices higher than just about every other grocery store ... high even for Hawai'i.Still less expensive than eating all our meals in restaurants, so we dropped $380 on groceries for a ten day stay. Not bad for a family of five, in the long run.As with all places in Hawai'i, kind employees and a lot of Aloha. When we got back to the condo, we found about 5 items missing that we put in the cart. They weren't on the receipt, so as best we could figure someone took them out of our cart-- ostensibly, these were the last-on-the-shelves, so maybe another customer helped themselves when we weren't looking? Weird.Visited a second time, and they must have stocked. Still $10 strawberries, but not here for a haircut.

This was a standard Safeway. Clean, large, and offers everything you need. For example, I came here to get dinner and a toothbrush lol. I was very impressed that they offered several different poke selections. Unfortunately, the one I got, that seemed to be mixed with cream cheese, was not something to write home about. Took several bites and threw that out. But still willing to try the others.

This is a VERY typical Safeway like you'll find across the continent. But HO LEE are some prices crazy even for a Safeway!Produce is just plain cray. I'd rather go to Yee's around the corner and get absolutely fresh tropical fruit for similar coin.For dry goods, the brand names are also often exorbitant. But at least there is usually a store brand comparable that is much cheaper.We typically stock up elsewhere and come here for small amounts of specific things.

Quality/Quantity - Safeway has the freshest Poke!! And you can trust their quality! We do visit your competitors for updated and other recipes. Also take a look at my fish display picture, so so fresh! My daughter tried a new tofu poke, not my taste, but she liked it. In the same picture, look how fresh my salmon poke is!! Also check out the bottom of my beer; I learned to freeze water in the bottom of the cup to keep my beer colder for longer, not that I don't drink fast enough, LOL. Huge Maui Beer display, but the price did NOT seem to be a sale? Or am I a day too early or late? See picture. Cool coke display and "Fun in the Sun", see picture. Okay local beer selection. Atmosphere - Clean, organized. Starbucks inside this location also. Plenty of mall parking. 25+ other businesses in this mall, none of which I need to go to, but see pictures. Service - Good. Price - Good. Owner Comment - We will come here often to get our fresh snacks and meals throughout our stay in Kihei, Maui. Congrats on your success at this location since 1963. Congrats on your success since 1915 with your 904 locations in 17 states. In 2015, Albertsons purchased Safeway. Safeway has a long history, which I will not get into.

They post members only sale prices 2/$5 but when you Check out you never get the sales prices they will charge you 4.59 each instead of 2/$5 like the have posted. When you bring these fake deals up they will make you jump through hopes and argue to get the deal they offer!

Richie at self checkout is Hella RUDE. Upon purchasing a sandwich Deal from the deli, we wasn't told certain chips was with the deal, so because I told we wasn't told what ones, she got pissed off and started viciously pressing the screen to override the pricing and then gave me attitude. If you hate your job, please QUIT.

This location is the worst!! They treat their employees like absolute garbage as well the customers. They NEVER have anything in stock either!!! I recommend a new slogan for this company. "Safeway!....what ever you came here for..we're out of it!"

I just want to give a great big thumbs up to "Olga" who works in the pharmacy section of Safeway. On a very busy Friday, she took the time and effort to help me pay for a medication. When she told me the prescribed pain medication was $171 plus, I was shocked. My insurance wouldn't cover it. Even though she was extremely busy, she took the time to look for a coupon on her computer. She found one and applied it to the cost which made the new total $14.10. Wow! What a difference! Because of her, I can afford to go pain free for awhile. Great compassion and service! Mahalo!

I haven't had a chance for picking up food from here but would still recommend this place for any relevant groceries. They're pretty well-stocked, have ample parking and have a Starbucks within the store. Regardless, they're a tad more expensive than a Walmart, Costco would be
