Shopped for some groceries here while visiting the island. The store seemed clean and organized. Items were easy to find. I liked that they have a Starbucks inside and I was able to find a Starbucks cup I had been looking for. Score! There was plenty of parking outside as well. We bought some of their sushi to try at home and were surprised at the fact that it was good. I don't usually trust store sushi but this one looked good so we went for it.

This is a good grocery store (its a grocery store). The first thing you have to get used to here on Maui and I'm sure Hawaii as a whole is Sticker Shock. Things cost A LOT more here than on the mainland. That being said, This store has everything I looked for, EVERYTHING! They have a huge selection of product choices. They have an INCREDIBLE selection of wine, beer and spirits. They have a bakery, a deli. They have a coffee shop. The service here is no better than any other grocery store. I found it hard to find assistance a couple of times. So with all that going for them it would be a perfect store. EXCEPT its the best place to get groceries in town and the parking lot cannot accommodate the business. Last time I was there it took me more than 15 minutes to find a place to park. I thought about selling my spot when I was done to offset the costs. But the store is Clean. The staff is friendly and helpful when you find them. The shelves are well stocked. I'm sure I'll go again, just have to pick a less busy time.

We went through line to purchase a very large amount of food with my family and I accidentally mistyped my phone number for rewards points. The cashier would not lift a finger to figure out how to fix it and let me put in the corrected number so I stopped the order to I could get the correct phone number on the second half of my groceries. She was super rude and condescending during this process. I'm upset that I spent so much money here.

Been here a few times during my stay in Maui and every time, I'm impressed with how well stocked and clean it is despite the constant flow of tourists and locals coming in and out. Their local made candies are much cheaper than at the ABC store so I recommend getting it here!

Staying at a condo nearby with a kitchen? Tired of paying to eat out? Forgot to stop by the Costco by the airport and don't want to drive all the way back? (Or maybe you don't even have a Costco membership...) Well Safeway has you covered. It's a good alternative stop for groceries... and I like the poke here. Don't get me wrong - Foodland is a great local option and Tamura's is the GOAT of deli poke shops on this side of Maui, but if I need to grab cheaper groceries then the tubs of poke from the seafood counter are enough to kill 2 birds with one stone. While some poke are previously frozen, they do have fresh options that are clearly labeled. If I just want the typical options like spicy salmon... I get it here. It's good and consistent. The scallop poke is also great with the sesame flavor. Docking a star because the parking lot is a bit of a mess when it gets busy, as there are other popular stores in the area like ABC stores. This Safeway seems to run out of gallon tanks of water quickly... we came late at night when they were restocking, but whenever we stopped by during the day I would notice they ran out, so something to keep in mind.

The workers here are the slowest in all of the grocery stores I've been to here in Maui. Getting in like for one sandwich took 40 mins. There were only 2 people in front of me and the worker took 10 minutes to make one sandwich. There's 4 people working at the Deli counter and it still took us almost an hour from the moment we walked in to walking out. If you're in a rush don't come here.

I like the fact that they have grown in size at this location, wished they carried a few things, one being simple syrup and orange curacao, I mean you have a wine selection that is amazing but you are in a tropical location, you should stock items that are essential to tropical cocktails. The prices are a little on the high side but that is the norm in Hawaii for certain items, like eggs and milk. We hit this a few times every time we come, which is every year. The Longs next to it also has a good selection of items and the little mall next to it has a great HIC store. Parking can be a little challenging. In regards to pricing, it is funny that the Maui Big Swell 12 pack cost almost two bucks more then two six packs at the brewery up the street.

Pretty decent selection and not a bad cost. It was definitely worth loading up on some bottles to keep at the hotel. Easy way to save $$$ in between meals.

No cart corral in the parking lot - so carts are all over the place. No mix and match/make-your-own-six pack in the beer section. No plastic bags at checkout. Not a fan.

This is my second stop right when I get off the plane. I like to come to come here to stock up on snacks, beer , & water. I also picked up some coffee creamer & champagne. Employees here are friendly. Parking lot is always packed so finding parking is difficult. And lines are always long but seem to run smoothly.

Based upon our recent visit June 2022. Mostly based on Our Poke order - other groceries items we purchased were fine. Tried Original Ahi Poke & Ahi & Avocado. The Ahi w/Avocado was fresh - not the deep red Ahi we look for but we enjoyed it. The original/regular Ahi Poke was NOT good, when we opened the lid there was an unpleasant surprise a fishy smell -- unfortunately one bite confirmed that the Ahi was not fresh, very fishy w/an off taste, we threw it out. Disappointing, the price tag they stick on the lid says, "100% guaranteed," not sure what that means - take it back for a refund? We weren't planning on going back as we had just arrived in Maui. Just finished our Costco & Safeway grocery provision run so, going back to Lahaina (traffic) for a refund is massively inconvenient (wait in line) and not worth our time - when on vacation time is a valuable commodity. How about Safeway & their Seafood/Poke team just do better. +1 for the Ube Bun w/Ube custard filling from the deli section - wow YUM! *Pro Tip: You can USE your Safeway/Chevron REWARDS POINTS at TEXACO GAS STATIONS
