Store chain in Hawaii falsely advertises things on sale. They advertise that the 2 for 5 Friday deal for 24oz pepsi was on sale, but they don't have it in stock at their store.

Love the layout of the store and the cleanliness. Customer service wise had a terrible experience. The deli worker wasn’t very friendly almost as I was bothering her when asked to place an order. When checking out the cashier lane was open, he proceeds to scan my stuff but with without greeting me and upset because another customer came behind me in his line. She was a very sweet lady and apologized for him to say “ well my line was supposed to be closed “ in a rude way to her. I usually don’t post reviews but it’s sad the way I was treated today as an avid customer of Safeway.

I'm not a usual Safeway shopper. But, the Waikele location is a great spot. I'd have rated it higher. But, their ad just started and they didn't have 2 different items that I was sent there to get. However, the store is nice, well lit and the aisles are nice and wide. The high ceiling is great too.

(10/1/23) Zero star. Terrible experience I had shopping this morning at 8am. There was only one check-out counter where I placed my groceries. The cashier at that one counter was talking and talking and talking to the customer over personal stuff such as someone taking medication, blah, blah, blah. I guess they knew each other. This slowed down the check-out process, so I told the cashier "ma'am, you are talking too much it's taking a while...", then I walked towards the other end for the self-checkout counter. I didn't want self-checkout because I injured my right hand, it would be difficult and painful to bag my items. As I was doing this, I was talking to the staff at the self-checkout letting her know that the woman at that only one open counter was talking too much that it was very slow to checkout. The cashier then walked all the way to the end towards me at the self-checkout and said, "Are you talking about me?!!!" I said, "yes", I told her my complaint that she was holding the line. She then said, "I was still working even when talking!!!" I told her no, that it slows down the process (like talking too much and driving at the same time). She then said, "do you want to look at the camera?!!!" I said no, (I'm too busy to be looking at the camera, and not my job to look at it). She then raised her voice further and said "See!!!" as if doubting my complaint. She was coming closer to me and continued to yell and argue, so I told her to stay away. I looked at her name tag, it says her name is JOY. She then said, "go ahead and complain about me!!!" She continued to grumble and yell. By the way, she left her register with customers in line just to come around and yell at me. I asked the other staff at the self-checkout if I could speak to the manager. She said that Joy is one of the managers. What? With that kind of unprofessional attitude, yelling at a customer after complaining about her talking too much at the register and holding up the line, Is Joy a store manager as incompetent as she is? Instead of apologizing, being rational, and considering that she was really holding up the line according to a customer's perspective, she argued with me, the customer. Joy, you need specialized training in professionalism and good customer service. You were yelling at a customer in a store where you are supposed to be the manager where your job is to de-escalate conflict. Instead, you make it worse, you're a disrespectful person representing Safeway with your bad attitude. The store manager, Joy, walking towards me confrontational, to argue and yell at me was uncalled for. It was harassment.(10/8/23) UPDATE: A person named Robbie called me from the store. He said sorry and stated he spoke to Joy that next time it gets busy, that she calls for help. However, this did not address her behavior of going after a customer, walking all the way to the other end of the checkout area just to argue and yell at a customer who complained about her. Joy's confrontational behavior towards a customer like me was inappropriate and considered harassment.

Newest Safeway on the island. More options for Waipahu residents and larger store than the nearest Foodland and Times. Plenty of parking. Prices expensive if not on sale.

The store is located in Waikele Center next to Lowes. The location is great if you're there for the other shops and stores. There is plenty of parking but it gets crowded on weekends. Pick up your groceries on the way home. The store is clean and feels comfortable, and it offers a variety of brands to choose from at the deli, bakery, and grocery departments.

I ran into this location to get some fresh produce. It was not very busy on a Monday afternoon. The produce aisle is awesome! Everything is so bright and colorful and there is a large selection to choose from. I got a russet potato as well as sweet potatoes. I was happy to find chives to add to the baked potato I will be making for dinner too! I was also on the lookout for a spaghetti squash, but couldn't find any. I got a couple zucchinis instead. Zoodles it is!

After many, many times I have found the deli staff has closed down more than half of the deli and completely closed down all of the hot self-serve bar extremely early so they do not have to work.I have also noticed they all go hide in the back and sit on their phones avoiding work. All of these times, after I get off work and stop by to get dinner for myself or my whole house... the deli is pretty much shut down. The daytime manager needs to make sure they are keeping things open and available for customers. Not everyone gets off work at 2pm, keep the food available for people. Remember you are working and being paid. Go work a basic, entry level security job if you want to sit down and be on your phone for hours.

I just KILLED a pound of salt and vinegar wings. Maybe the chicken wing gods were looking over me but the pan of wings was full and fresh. It was a long day of teaching little humans and I just needed a win (sad I know). When I got home they were crispy and so perfectly salted and vinegar-ed (haha). Five stars for the deli area. They have sandwiches made - get the one with the PRETZEL BUN. They even have pizza dough out for you to make your own pizza at home. Sometimes if it isn't out, you can ask the people behind the counter and they'll be able to look in the fridge for availability. I've also dog fresh slices of deli meat no problem. Five stars for the BOGO chicken quarters and thighs. Get the app to earn points and catch deals. Anything helps! Sometimes there random deals are great too. One time there was a buy 3 get 3 free for certain General Mills cereals. Yes, I left with 6 boxes of assorted cereals. Yes, my bf and I ate them. No, we don't have children. Sometimes there is but 1 get 1 free for certain snacks as well.

I love this Safeway! One of the few locations that are open 24 hours (even during C19). Friendly staff & clean store. Deli, poke/meat counter & bakery are always busy but the lines are handled fairy quick. Parking is great (except during the holidays but that's pretty much any where!).
