Extremely unaffordable, way off quotes, some people here are very rude and shouldn’t work with people or animals, it’s clear they don’t care. here are extremely rude, don’t go here unless you have money to burn. All they talk about is more things to run up the bill, don’t care about the dog at all. They also added hidden things to our estimate bill that we did not ask for or talk about then fought with us over it, literally repeating “it’s only $$$, okay I understand but it’s only $$$” after we already said we couldn’t afford it which is such a kick in the teeth when we’re told our dog could die. Just overall a bad experience, I won’t trust them with one of my pets again

I had to call this clinic at 3 am about my sick dog. This was not even my vet. The woman who answered the phone was amazing!!!! She asked me questions and answered all my questions without just telling me to bring my dog in. She gave me very good advice. Thank you very much for help :)

Everyone was just wonderful. From the phone call to arrival I felt they took care of us. The entire process felt like we were treated with empathy and care. The team were so passionate and moved quickly. I told all my friends about this experience at Elk Grove Specialty and Emergency. it was truly a blessing we selected this place. I cannot say enough about the staff ?

Our dog Jayjay suffered a bite injury from another dog. He was bleeding so bad. My family was so happy and Thankful for all the help that we received from Elk Grove veterinary. Every interaction we had from that hospital was positive. Front desk, nurse, and doctors are all compasionate and made us feel that our Jayjay was in good hands. Thanks to elk grove veterinary our dog is doing much better now.

I just want to thank the staff for being so kind and helpful with my dog. I don't know why the reviews are not higher. They were short staffed but it was only because it was New Years day but everyone worked as fast as they could to take care of my pup. So grateful! Thank you all so much!

My dog suffered a bite injury from another dog and my vet suggested this location for treatment. I entered the lobby and was told immediately that they were full and not able to see us. I was confused as there were no other cars in the parking lot and no one in the waiting room. I pleaded asking if my dog could be seen here as she was actively bleeding and was told no, they were full and I should have called. I can certainly understand if we needed to be triaged and if we may have had to wait, but the dismissive interaction with the front desk was extremely disappointing. If we truly could not have been seen, I would have appreciated a little compassion and assistance to help call another local vet to ensure my dog could get the treatment she needed. The front desk staff just watched as I struggled to get the bleeding under control and get my dog back in the car. Definitely not the compassion one would expect at a veterinarian, let alone an Animal ER.

We had to put our 11 year old lab down on Christmas Eve. We can not say enough about the staff and their compassion. From the wonderful lady at the front desk to the doctor, they were amazingly kind and compassionate.

This is the TOP ER for your pet. It is important to meet the care team in advance, prepare with insurance requirements, as well as know your travel plans. Especially if you are the driver for your pet. Having a plan in place helps when your emotions set in when your pet is in crisis. PROFESSIONAL, TOP CARETEAM, BEST TREATMENT AVAILABLE. Kolleen is truly wonderful during healing and when your pet passes away.

Jessie up at the front desk was extremely rude & unprofessional!!She should NOT be upfront working with anyone . Because of her, I will never return there again, and I reside in elk Grove as my dog was dying , all she cared about, was Arguing with me and running up to us with bills before I even spoke to the doctor. Let me clarify the rest of the staff there is very nice they need to get rid of that jessie ASAP because she makes that place look really really bad. ! Thank you to the very nice doctor and other friendly staff to offset her rudeness!!! please get rid of Jessie !!!! Don’t want the hospital getting any more bad reviews because of her, the worst person I’ve ever ever interacted with , she should never be working with animals nor people!!!!!

More than anything I'm thankful that this office is open on Christmas. My dog got sick and needed emergency services for frequent vomiting, the staff is very friendly, professional, and understanding. Since it's a holiday weekend, as expected, there was a longer wait time but they are also understanding of extreme emergencies and prioritize that. Yes, this office is expensive, I spent just under $1400 for the visit, bloodwork, labs, X-rays, and medicine, but truthfully, this is to be expected due to the nature of the visit and for the fact that it's around the Chicagoland area. Thank you guys for making my doggo better

I took my dog to Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency at the onset of a sudden and frightening episode whereby one side of his face began to droop, and he was unable to stand - all on a Friday evening at about 6 pm. Scooping him up in my arms, I called EGVSE to advise I was on my way. Unfortunately, there aren't a plethora of ER vets in the Chicago NW suburbs, and I was familiar with this particular vet as the rescue with which I volunteer used them in the past. As soon as we arrived, my dog was rushed into triage to assess the situation and to take vitals. I was ushered into a room where I waited for approximately 45 minutes - all in all, not a bad experience so far. A vet advised me that the situation likely involved a neurological condition, and recommended X-rays, which I agreed to do. Come to find out, the X-rays revealed my poor boy had been tortured, apparently before my adopting him from a rescue (he came from Alabama), as we discovered he had approximately 20 BB gun pullets lodged throughout his body. The vet preliminarily diagnosed my baby boy with something called vestibular disease which essentially is vertigo in dogs. She prescribed anti-nausea and anti-anxiety meds to help with his distress. Upon returning home, his condition worsened so I returned about an hour or two later and essentially had a second examination with no further conclusions. The price tag? A whopping TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS, for two short visits, X-rays, and medications. I understand that ER vets come with a premium cost, but this bill was beyond staggering. Needless to say, this posed an incredible financial burden so much so that I had to open up a care credit card. A reasonable upcharge is understandable for the urgent care/ER visit and treatment, but these charges are unreasonable. If I need another ER vet, I will continue to look for an alternative that might offer greater affordability to the working class and your average Joe's.

I brought my sickly 16 year-old dog into the emergency hospital this past Saturday. My family and I knew that it was not good and most likely our Zoe would need to be put to sleep. Dr. Trujillo was honest with us confirmed what we already knew. It was such a difficult experience, but I cannot tell you how kind, compassionate, and thoughtful Dr Trujillo was. She was so gentle with my Zoe and I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am, that Zoe’s last moments were with a doctor who truly cared. People don’t understand how much of a difference is makes to have compassion and empathy. Dr. Trujillo and the entire staff were exceptional. I hope I never have an emergency with another pet again but if I do, I know exactly where to bring them. Thank you to everyone at Elk Grove Animal Hospital.

I experienced a scary situation with my senior dog Niko where we believed he could be having a seizure... called Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency and was calmly registered prior to our arrival. When we got to the clinic we were taken right back into an exam room and Niko was treated immediately. The whole experience was full of compassion and patience and we felt all our questions and worries were addressed. Thank you so much to Dr. Herbert and the staff for treating us & Niko with respect and empathy.

elk grove veterinary and specialty is going to be the one place i recommend for my friends and their fur babies. they took such great care of my feline babe and were so responsive, understanding, compassionate, and efficient in helping us during a time of so much worry and stress.you truly can tell they care deeply about each and every animal and client that comes through their doors. if it weren’t for them, i’d have no idea where we’d be. i’m so grateful to know that our pets have such a great medical team as well ?
