After having Kylie do our hair, and further having Carter do our hair (who does Kylie’s hair), I can safely attest to the fact I will NOT revisit Zazu Hinsdale. Lopping off 4” of my daughter’s hair, telling her that her that her hair was damaged, which it was not (considering that Kylie did her hair in March) and having her leave your salon looking like she left a salon at a less selective salon, is disheartening. Her hair was NOT damaged. Carter did not want to do the “work”. Do your homework! I will absolutely NOT be returning. I will not let my negative review rest. Absolutely subpar service received. I will be disputing the charge! Carson, you should be ashamed of your work!

I met with three stylists here, (Alexa, Freddy, and Zayna) and they were all terrible. I was treated rudely by waiting staff, and they were always behind schedule. I was also burned by a bleaching product since Alexa rushes her job.

Was very disappointed with the quality and service of this salon. It looks very nice and I was very excited to get my hair done as i don’t treat myself very often. The consultation went amazingly and i felt super comfortable however after the service the pricing did not match up with what was discussed in the consultation by a LANDSLIDE. I went in to go lighter and expressed that one of my main concerns was my hairs health. I felt great going into it because the consultation was detailed and my stylist assured me all was well but again during my service I felt that this was completely disregarded. I expressed my concerns during and after the service as well and still had issues. After my service I experienced damage and breakage to my hair followed up with my stylist to no avail called the salon and they did not make my experience easy or pleasurable. Overall just disappointed. And they are ridiculously expensive.

Just got home with a fresh new cut from Kasia at the salon in Hinsdale. She was absolutely amazing. Extremely professional and easy to talk to. If you haven’t checked Zazu out don’t hesitate. You will not be disappointed.

Unfortunately, my friend had a very disappointing experience at this salon. She was quoted $1,500 for hair extensions, including the cost of the hair, but was ultimately charged $2,000. Not only was the pricing inconsistent, but the extensions were installed incorrectly, causing her pain and persistent headaches for over a week. She reached out to the stylist for help, but was ignored.
Eventually, she developed red bumps on her scalp—an indication that the stylist may not have applied the extensions properly. Instead of taking responsibility, the salon blamed her, claiming she was “not a good candidate for extensions.” As professionals, that should have been assessed beforehand.
The salon refused to provide a refund for the flawed installation and told her she was “lucky” to have the extensions removed at no additional charge. She experienced significant hair loss and had to visit another salon to fix the damage.
To make matters worse, the staff attempted to dismiss her concerns by pointing out her age (19), stating she was “not fully developed,” which was unprofessional and inappropriate. There was no accountability—just blame-shifting and poor customer care.
I urge others to proceed with caution before booking here.

Do not recommend this place unless you are a teen with rich parents with zero bar for quality, time or customer service. Worst experience in my life and in Hinsdale? Was expecting a completely different experience due to the reviews and location and prices. Front desk of teens (3) and staff need to be adequately trained to be friendly, personable, resourceful, and equipped with responses to customer inquiries - perhaps develop a FAQ for customers to reference themselves than deal with incompetent humans that waste time and costs. Consider training them on how to perform a transaction and ensuring you are locking in recurring business from them: Just like starbucks has to go back to their roots, this salon has to as well to improve the client experience vs increasing the customer churn rate (after one visit). Go back to basics and service clients ensuring the result desired is reached while listening to their pain points and performing a consultation based on their subject matter expertise. Hire and train staff appropriately for typical transactions, inquiries and etiquette, asking how the service was, if tip would like to be left and ultimately ensure clients leave happy, wanting to return and spread the word.

Morgan deserves recognition for taking on my very emotionally distressed hair consultation to fix what I considered one of the worst haircuts (different salon I won't name) I've ever had. She was awesome and I just really want her to know how much better I feel leaving her chair. Thank you!!

Huge fan of this salon. Really nice people here! My stylist Taylor was such a sweetheart and did a phenomenal job on my hair. Morgan is also amazing and so very sweet. No complaints here, I will definitely come back in the future!

Kasia is such a wonderful hairstylist. I am very particular with my hair. Kasia spent a long time doing a consultation with me during our first appointment together. She asked me so many questions so that she could do the best job possible. She was very diligent and went above and beyond to give me the balayage blonde that I love on my hair. She followed up with me multiple times, and even though the first lightening session wasn’t light enough for me, she brought me back and redid my foils to give me exactly what I wanted. I loved that. She touched up my face framing too, recommended AMAZING products for my hair which literally have transformed my hair. This girl took one look at my hair and knew exactly what I needed. My hair has never looked this healthy and beautiful, and it’s only been 2 weeks since I’ve seen her. All I can say is this kind of skill is hard to come by. She cares about her clients. I will never go to anyone else. Thank you Kasia :)
