very bad experience!!! I reserved my reservation and paid on line for a four day trip to see my kids. Since my ex moved out of state I don't get to see them as much as I'd like. I was to pick up my rental at noon on Friday. at 830am on Friday morning I got a call from Hertz Terre haute indiana. I was sleeping so I didn't answer it. the message they left me was they don't have a car for me(keep in mind I already paid for it). After 7 attempts to call them to find out what's going on and no one answering the phone I left a message. an hour later a not very nice woman called me back. she said they may have a car by the end of the day or in the morning. so I'm like ok. I'll leave later that day or the next morning. Well the not so nice woman never called me back that day or the next morning. I even went as far as to go to the Hertz place in Terre haute. which is inside another business (Big O Tires). there was no one at the Hertz counter or the small office they had there even though there business sign said they are open during these hours. now since I already paid for a car that they didn't deliver I was unable to get another rental from enterprise cause I didn't have the funds available cause Hertz still had my money and since it's the weekend no one in billing was there to reimburse my payment. I have to call back during normal business hours.( I will say though the dude from India that spoke English very well that gave me the number to billing was nice, polite, and helpful) all in all very bad experience. my kids were very disappointed that I was not able to make it. since the divorce I've tried very hard to follow through with what I say I'm going to do when I comes to them. this was the first time I didn't follow through. even though it wasn't my fault I'm very upset with Hertz for this whole experience. especially the not so nice woman at the terre haute branch. considering they still got my money for a car that was not delivered. so in short I'm a dissatisfied customer.

Order a car but when we went to pick it up they didn't have any vehicles available. They stated they called to let us know but we didn't have any voice message or missed calls. ?

I mean... hard to have a WORSE experience with a rental company. Didnt get a car and they have held funds for over 2 weeks now. Just awful. Messing with people's lives here.

We reserved a car for my son because his car is in the shop. Spoke to a wonderful lady when I called the 1-800 number. She was very helpful and said that his car would be available and all he had to do was call 1 hour ahead of time to let them know that he would be there. This is where our issues started. He tried calling and got a recording saying the number was not taking phone calls. I then called and got the same message. I finally got through 5 minutes later. The employee Aston who answered the phone was immediately rude. I explained that he had tried calling and couldn't get someone. She very rudely said she was helping someone with a car. Understandable! She then proceeds to tell me that there is no car for my son. I started to speak and explain that I had just spoken with someone who said that we were all set to go. She proceeded to keep speaking over me to the point that I had to tell her to stop talking! I started to speak again and she started to speak over me yet again. I told her to stop talking and asked her name. She rudely gave it to me and I hung up. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had in a very long time. I called and spoke to my insurance company who was more than glad to switch us to Enterprise and it was a wonderful experience and we had a car within an hour. If you are in Terre Haute and need a car don't go to Hertz!

I could go on for a long time but I’ll keep this simple. They do not provide a good service. I’ve called them every day of my vacation and they do not answer the phone or return calls but they sure will charge your card ridiculous amounts. GO TO ENTERPRISE!!!

One star is too generous for Hertz. I reserved a van and went to pick it up only to have them tell me they dont have one that big. And the lady was rude on top of it all. I cant get ahold of them to get my money back. Then had to go somewhere else to try and get a vehicle. Hertz sucks.

The staff at our local hertz rental was rude and completely inept. They told my step daughter that they would have a vehicle for her and her children. They had and economy car. Hardly what she asked for. When she tried to talk to the lady at the counter she was rude and didn't care. I will sooner drive a bicycle than get a vehicle from you.

Beware of time limit! I had a car reserved during our holiday travel and they gave it away. I had reserved it for 8 AM, not knowing for sure when we'd be able to pick it up. When we arrived at 11, they told me they only allowed a 2 hour window to pick it up. I received 2 email confirmations and a phone confirmation, none of which mentioned this time limit. The staff was very unfriendly and said "well it's on the website". Well, Hertz, you will not be getting my business in the future.

My insurance made the reservation for me. I was told to call when I was on my way to the auto body shop to drop off my car for repair and they would meet me there to pick me up. I called and was informed that were only a couple of minutes from the shop I was going to. I told them I was only a couple minutes away and they said they would meet me there right away. I still had to wait for ten minutes in the cold for them to pick me up. When I went to return the car I was just shy on gas from when I picked it up. I picked it up at 3/4 a tank of gas and when I returned it, it was just under the 3/4 mark. By just under the 3/4 mark I mean it literally was just under, it was not even to the next mark down on the gauge. The manager informed me they would charge me $10.00 a gallon (2 gallons) if I did not go put more gas in it. At this point the gentleman standing next to me informed me he had just got back from having to put $7 in gas in his car to prevent him from being charged the ridiculous gas charge. So, I left again and put more gas in it. I over filled it so when I got back to the counter I asked for a refund and the manager informed me they do not give refunds for gas. I was trying to return this car while i was on lunch and I let the manager know i was in a hurry. She did not pick up her pace at all, just simply ignored what I had said. This was the first time I had used Hertz. My insurance company has a contract with them so I thought I would give them a try. I am sorry I did and I will never go back and will tell everyone I know not to use Hertz, this location anyway.

Used for an insurance rental 3 times now, always had great service. Love the prepay fuel option, so I didn’t have to mess with it before returning rental. Also really like that you can purchase coverage for the car through them to avoid having an insurance claim!
