First time at the Mucky Duck. I'm glad I finally went! The food was very good, service was good, the atmosphere was great. Loved all the authentic English stuff for sale. Would highly recommend it to anyone.Had the Onion Rings, which were very good, the fish and chips were good too. The fish was lighter and flaky inside, outside was crunchy and delicious.Overall, it was very good, and I will return too!

They grow some good Millennial spots in IA...this place is better! Beards, plaid, beer..all a good check...didn't catch the music, it was lunch time and the World Cup game was on (check)...on the way out of town and a great little spot! Very good service and the beer selection was temping, it was lunch on a Tuesday. I went with the Fish-&-Chips, how could I not...Great choice. A very good fresh chunk of fish. The batter was nice, tight with a good not to greasy crunch! The chips were good, well done and the table had a good malt vinegar on it, spot on! I would definitely stop in again, later in the day so I can have a beer! Might go chop down a tree so I can blend in, after all it is the Christmas season! KT

Best place for English food in Ames + the people are awesome. We like to sit at the bar and eat fish n chips and sticky toffee pudding, they also do a good English breakfast and their mimosas are A+

Found a new place to eat in Ames, and it was such a fun and unique food experience. It's a British pub, so its menu isn't your typical one, and our server did a fabulous job informing us of what they entailed since many were a bit out of the usual options. I loved the interior. Plenty of outside parking. Had some tasty, non-caffeinated tea, followed by a tasty chicken and bacon sandwich that was yummy. My way significant other shared her pasty dinner choice and it was darn good. Loved their fries. But, I have to add that the best element was their fabulous music throughout our 90-minute stay. It was an amazing collection of the 60s and 70s hits ranging from The Stones to Janis Joplin to the Moody Blues. I loved it, was seat dancing throughout! Whoever picked the music needs to post a Spotify playlist. Absolutely no doubt that I will return here, and next time it's the fish n chips! Or, maybe the bangers and mash. Whatever, I know it'll be good!

Excellent food and service!!! Got the fish n chips and was not disappointed at all! Reminds you of a pub you would find in an Irish ☘️ Valley, or somewhere on the coast of Ireland! Can’t wait to go back!

Just been here a few times but it's a cool environment and staff were friendly. Based on the number of cars most nights, it is a popular place.

Great place for fish and chips! Probably the best cozy Irish Pub in Ames! Not very spacious though!

Have driven by it for many years and wondered why they would have the name of a popular place in FL, and couldn't quite imagine walking into a bar and grill inside a shuttered Casey's. But so glad I finally did! Visited UK for first time a couple months ago so now have a love and interest in "British Pubs" after visiting 26 of the across the pond. This place has done a great job with British draft beer selections and the legit menu. What we had was very, very good, especially the Scotch egg and the sticky toffee pudding. Will be back, def adding this place to "the rotation"!

I enjoyed the Scotch egg and took some Bangers and mash with me for lunch. It is a special treat when in Ames. I waited for a half an hour for them to open and it is well worth it, even with the absence of Branston Pickle. The staff were very kind and invited me in for water early. Toss in a ginger beer and a root beer. My day at the clinic went very well. I am grateful for these authentic culinary gems often overlooked for a drive through.

Visiting family in Ames. We were her once before. Same good food. Everyone got fish and chips. It is normally cooked the traditional English way, we asked for the extra crispy coating. The servers were busy but the food arrived hot. No complaints. We'll be back next time we;re visiting.
