Had an excellent meal with eight colleagues. Service was fantastic as was the food. Several had steaks and some of us enjoyed the salmon. The cauliflower and chutney were perfect accompaniments for the salmon. Wonderful balance with the draft Blue Moon. Neat historic setting in a traditional house. Worth repeating!!

We found this gem crossing the country. In an old house that used to be the home of a boat CaptYouain on the Mississippi River, there now is this great restaurant. The menu is unusual and unusually good. The service is stellar.

I had the Blue Moon Cheese Soup, Garlic Salad, and Chicken Salad Sandwich. It all was absolutely amazing. This place is a must go to when in the area.

Loved this place. What a wonderful place with so much history. The views were spectacular and the food was magnificent. Loved the Chicken and Dumplings, the prime rib sandwich was quite tasty and the pea salad is a must! The ending to a great meal was a delicious blueberry pie. We definitely will be back and we have reserved for a large luncheon when we make our travels back with a large group. Can't wait for them to try such a unique and wonderful place. A Definite Must!

We had seen good reviews of this place, so we went there for lunch on our weekday visit. Try to arrive early if you can, because it is a busy, popular place. The service was excellent, even though there was only one waiter there--he was so energetic and attentive! The food was yummy! we can vouch for the salmon patties on beet salad, the homemade vanilla icecream, and the crumb topping apple pie, served warm was truly the best I have ever had, and I'm picky about pies. The view from the house's rooms is delightful, but the food is worth it even if you are not by a window. And you are allowed to stroll about the place and see the decor and the garden, which is a lovely thing to do after you finish your meal.

I loved the homey atmosphere. The staff were friendly, food was super good, and was so excited they actually have a gluten free menu. That's a win, win for me. Can't wait to go back.

What a great little place this is!! Located inside an old historic mansion, The Crane and Pelican overlooks the Mississippi River right at the great bend. The food is wonderful, the service is excellent, the atmosphere is quaint, and you don't want to miss the experience of dining here. And as if I can't say enough about this place....they welcome everyone. There is a sign on the door that welcomes everyone no matter your religion, ethnicity, gender identity....all may come and enjoy this amazing little restaurant in historic Leclaire, Iowa.

A nice quint place. Food is good, but quite starchy. A very limited menu. We'll go back, but only for lunch. They need to up their game to be a Foodie destination. We were there on a Thursday evening & we were one table of three for the whole evening. Nine years of the same ole thing isn't cutting it. Reinvent yourself please.

Great prime rib, one of the best I've had in the area. Only downside was everything on the plate came out pretty cold. The home made hot fudge was phenomenal! I will be coming back for sure, highly recommend!

Very old elegant house turned into a restaurant. The staff was superb and on the spot. The food was excellent. We split the soup and salad so we enjoyed two salads, soups, and sandwiches. Just FYI, they do not serve breakfast. They have a decent wine and bar selection.

The Crane and Pelican not only has great food at a reasonable price, but they are extremely hospitable and cordial. They even answered my inane questions about the color paint on the walls..."Toasted Walnut" by Behr. I cannot wait to go there again.

My husband and I went here on Saturday for our 35th anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. The meals we both had were great. (meat loaf and chicken dumplings). We had vanilla ice cream (the best either of us has ever had) with hot fudge. We will be going back for ice cream for sure. Best in the QCA I think. Will go for dinner and lunch again too.

My friend and I stopped in for a bite of lunch. Loved the menu and our waitress was wonderful! My roasted beet and goat cheese salad was amazing!! We shared a slice of apple pie before heading back out to shop some more. Great day in LeClaire!

Had a wonderful evening meal. Great service(thanks Christina) and awesome food. The setting is also fantastic...older home with a nice view of the river. They have HOMEMADE pie and ice cream! Everything was so good, we extended our stay so we could do lunch the next day and get a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie!

I went to Crane & Pelican on a Saturday at 1pm. I was there to get an appetizer and have a couple drinks while enjoying my Saturday. Overall the restaurant was not busy with a number of tables available in both rooms. The bar was empty with 3 seats sitting open, which was perfect for my party of 3! However, we went to sit there and were told by a server (not the host seating us) that they do not sit anyone at the bar during lunch if they want to order food. There was no explanation given as to why they do this and I was just left dumbfounded. I was so confused that I sat with my party at a normal table but the more I thought about the non-explanation of refusing to seat us at the bar I became upset. We got up and left after the waters were poured and walked out. I have eaten at the Crane & Pelican a few times before and enjoyed myself. I even sat at the bar on a weekend ate food! The server this time has ruined my opinion of crane & pelican.

My family and I wanted to try something new. This restaurant is a beautiful, historic building. We had 3 of the 6 main entrees. The portions for the sides are very small. The food was terrible and overpriced! We choked down what we could as we spent more than we should have and then went thru a drive thru and got sandwiches. The great reviews this establishment gets must be from family/friends of the owners. I've never taken the time to write a review because I've never felt this strongly about a dining experience! Save your money and go anywhere else!
