Good selection of fabrics. I was there August 30, 2025. There was a quilt on display that I asked an employee about, wondering if there was a kit available. She told me no, after looking around the display and in the stock room. I then asked if they had a pattern for the quilt. While they were looking, the first employee called another employee to see what the quilt was called. During this time, I gathered fabrics they used in the sample and headed to the front. As soon as the fabric I chose was cut, the first employee came out of the store room holding a kit of the quilt I asked about. Turns out, the employee who was at first unable to find anything was a manager, and because the fabric was cut off the bolt, I was forced to pay for it. Poor poor people skills, poor customer service. I have made many trips to kc makers and have spent lots of money. Unfortunately, my return visits will be rare or not at all.

I just finished the Sewing 101 class with Drucie and it was 10/10! Drucie is the best and so knowledgeable. I wish they had more classes to take, the staff are super helpful and it’s a great price for a beginners class.

Very nice quilt shop! Lots of beautiful fabric! They even had some knit fabrics. I also liked their collection of purse and bag making supplies and fabrics. Very friendly people!

Amendment post: I showed them my receipt and it said nothing about a cancellation policy anywhere. I purchased it online. Perhaps that’s why. But they still would not refund the money. And that’s fine. I haven’t gone back since. All the best to them.
This place is absolutely beautiful. BUT I'm posting to warn anyone who might be interested in taking a class here.
Two days before the event, I've had to cancel because of an unexpected medical appointment.
Nowhere on my receipt or email confirmation did it state that I had to cancel an ENTIRE week in advance.
I was told their class page states their policy. As of right now it's nowhere to be seen. How would I as a customer know this? Why would I scroll down to an obscure part of their page if the class I want isn't there.
This is not a shrewd way to treat customers. You have taken my $45. (For a class in which I had to bring all of my own supplies.) But you're losing out on the hundreds I would have spent on you going forward.
Only take a class here if you're willing to lose your money. They would not even offer me a credit.

I have found my new home. The ladies were so nice and friendly. They offer so many great classes. I can't wait to come back for more.

Love coming in here! I look a bit different from the typical customer but everyone is still so kind to me and incredibly helpful! It’s nice to feel welcome and not like an outsider. :) they obviously also have an AMAZING selection of fabric, patterns and various notions.

The staff at KC Maker are AMAZING!!!! So friendly and helpful. I am new to sewing and several team members took the time to help explain things to me. The store also has such a great selection of quality fabrics and patterns.

The best quilt shop in Kansas City!!! Such a great selection of fabrics, bright shop. They sell handiquilter long-arms and Brother sewing machines! This store is huge. Come check them out. Great classes offered on both quilts and garments.

I took my initial quilting class here, and I was instantly hooked. I’ve attended sew days and spent hours perusing the fabrics. My stash of fabrics grows easily when I visit. Everything about KC Maker is fantastic!!!

This is one of the most beautiful, well organized and friendly shops I’ve been to. I sew garments, and all of their fabric is beautiful and the staff are some of the friendliest I’ve ever encountered. I’ve been to some sewing shops that are no where near as kind. My husband even remarked on how much laughter there was around the shop and how inviting it was. The only bad part is for my wallet because I live so close!

I was in the Kansas City area last week and visited this incredible shop. The staff is friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. I spent over an hour in the shop looking at THOUSANDS of top grade fabrics. I’ve never seen so many Kaffe Fassett/Free Spirit fabrics in one place. Their Christmas collection is fabulous, too. If you’re a quilter and happen to be in Kansas City, make time to visit.

This was a really well-stocked store with a lot of helpful and kind workers. Their prices were a little higher than some shops, but it is nice to be able to pick fabrics in person. They had cork and zippers for handbags as well as a large array of both solids and colorful prints including Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett.
