I just recently started coming here within the last few months because I wanted a new primary physician for my two cats and hadn't found one I was willing to call my veterinary team yet. I remembered living nearby in the past and how highly recommended they were by neighbors, so I started bringing my kitten here for his follow up shots and wellness checks. I wish I could remember the name of his vet, but can only brag about how loving and gentle she was to him! I had already decided after his two first kitten appointments that this would be the place I'd call home. It's affordable and every staff member shows so much love and care for every animal that walks through their doors.
To that point, my elderly cat (who had never been to this vet before) had taken up ill this last week and on a whim I called (and immediately started crying, worried about my cat) asking if there was a free appointment slot this last tuesday (day of). The person who answered the phone, Jenny, was the most KIND receptionist I've ever had the genuine pleasure of speaking with. She heard me start crying and told me "I'm here for you", which meant a world of difference for me in that moment. She then got with the vets and tried to switch around schedules to get my cat in ASAP, then promptly called me back, found a different day to schedule, gave me all the information I needed to feel good about keeping my kitty home for another day, and recommended urgent cares I could take her to for peace of mind if waiting a day would be harder for me. The compassion shown just in that interaction meant a world of difference. and calmed me down significantly.
At my cat's appointment yesterday, I told Dr. Wallis that I was worried about my cat's symptoms but only had about $400 to my name to take care of my kitty at that point in time. She was wildly understanding and very quickly worked up a treatment plan that worked for my budget but that would also do everything reasonably possible to help my cat in that moment. She stuck to it, didn't try to upsell anything (as others have mentioned for some reason), and it was finished within the hour. She got my cat exactly what she needed within the hour and I'm here writing this review right now because my cat is already back to acting more like herself thanks to the compassion and expertise she showed us. I could jump for joy seeing her already improving and knowing that my cat is in such good hands every time I'm there.
All in all, I moved to Kansas City and still drive to this veterinary office because the quality of care I've received every time I've been here has been genuine and phenomenal every time I've set foot inside, from the front desk to the doctors and everyone in between. You will not find another practice that cares so genuinely about your pets that is so understanding and reasonable on price anywhere that I can think of. I can't thank every staff member here enough for the love and relief they've brought me in the few months since I've made it my primary clinic.
So much love,
Finn and Stella
(And their humans, Jordan and Aaron)

The staff has seen their fair share of tears from me and has treated me and my dogs with the most gentle of care. We had a scare about a year ago with one dog, who is receiving monthly care from the staff to treat his condition. Most recently we had an incident with our other dog eating a diaper. The staff quickly helped us, came in over the weekend to provide care, and followed up with a voice of concern like it was their own pet.
Very thankful for everyone at Monticello ❤️❤️

These folks are great! Was able to get in very quickly, and saw a very caring vet. Just beware of the cat up front!

They take really good care of our 3 little dogs. Very loving and gentle. I love their app that keeps us updated on any needed shots or checkups. I've referred Monticello to several friends and family members.

The worst staff. And the vet will tell you one thing six months ago and then six months later they'll tell you you need to do surgery on your animal when they told you not to do it at all. They are clueless totally clueless. Do not take your animal there there's other places that are better total bs. We're not recommend.

Look elsewhere, Vets are perfectly happy to schedule the unneccessary well vist checkups, and want to sell you the medicine, dog food, and flea/tick treatment, but don't expect them to see your pet when it is actually sick.

Dr. Wallis was great! She took the time to answer all my questions and was very knowledgeable. I will be going to her from here on out in regards to all my python's needs. Thank you for such a great visit!

I have gone to a different vet for years with our dogs, but when our guinea pig woke up sick one morning, they referred us to MAH. They were able to get us an emergency appointment that afternoon and also gave me a large list of another hospitals that may see guinea pigs to try to call while we waited. Thankfully our guinea pig is mostly dramatic and seemed fine by the time we got to the vet. Dr. Wallace still did a thorough checking of our guy and took her time with us and educated us on all sorts of additional guinea pig care. We have had guinea pigs before, and read lots of books from the library on them, and we still learned a lot that day. They were short staffed that day and justifiably could have turned us away instead of making time for us . We are thankful to now have a vet who we know will see our piggies and who seemed to love snuggling up with our guy and caring for his best health.

We had a last minute issue come up for our Guinea pig. It was potentially a week out for an appointment so they gave me other phone numbers to try, but when I couldn’t get another appointment anywhere else last minute, they were able to squeeze us in for a drop off the same day. The lovely receptionist was so kind and ready to help and genuinely cares. The doctor was so nice and though we don’t know what exactly caused my pigs issues she was ready to continue to treat and try to help him out as best as she could. I love that she was honest and so kind. It’s refreshing to know this animal hospital treats small animals just as good as dogs or cats. Not many places take small pets let alone last minute. And another plus was that it was a lot less expensive that we thought it might be. Thank goodness for this animal hospital <3
