We have Cummins Ferry RV Park + Campground right up the road - and we ALWAYS recommend all our guests come to Shaker Village - it is amazing. Always elegant, classy, and spotless. The craft show was wonderful too - but Shaker Village is a Kentucky Gem.

Unique place full of history. Was great to visit but accommodations are not handicap accessible. Stairs and raised bed made it difficult even for healthy older persons.

Walkability: Can walk to all buildings, but the "main campus" itself is fairly large. The out buildings are around a mile away both to the east and the west.

A must see if you are in Kentucky. There were many buildings that were beautiful and informative. The are also some farm animals. We actually changed our plans to spend the night so we would have more time. The room was very large and well appointed. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food and service were amazing.

Building smelled like mold as soon as we walked in. We waited hours for a clean room that smelled like urine and the tub was filthy with hair from the previous guest. Very disappointed!

Had the best breakfast. Toured many of the historic buildings and saw a stunning watercolor exhibit.

Largest historical landmark in the state of Kentucky. Staff was very gracious and knowledgeable about the Shakers and their culture. I recommend going on to their website to get more information, as this review will be paltry in comparison to the vast information they can provide. This is what you might call a living museum. Tours are encompassing of many of their buildings. There is a restaurant on site. Do make reservations. There are vast grounds to hike. This is a photographer's dream. Content around every corner.
Walkability: You will need to have some well-fitting shoes in the willing to walk some distance for the tours.

So peaceful. My favorite part was hearing people talking and laughing around the fire at night. Also, hearing the chicken coop sounds in the morning.
Walkability: Small campus, so you can walk everywhere.
Food & drinks: Dinner at the Trustees Table was delish.
Noteworthy details: This is a great place to learn about the Shakers, but they have also made it a wonderful place to be apart from the history.
