i went back in late April/May 2022. the market and all the various products are super cute (i did in fact buy stuff) and most of the staff was friendly but the whole forty minutes my friend and i were there, we were followed by this one lady staff member who would not stop commenting about my dyed hair and my friend’s nose piercing, going on and on about how “weird” people are for altering their appearances and saying how she could never “ruin” her face. and i mean she legitimately followed us from room to room the entire time we were there and wouldn’t stop with the random and uninvited comments. everyone else was nice and the place was cutely put together and clean but that experience makes me really not want to go back, sorry ya’ll.

This market does not represent the town of Ponchatoula’s people well. They are profit driven and absolutely do not care about the community’s best interest. They only want to rent rent rent rent space. Sad. They have now decided the alligator who has brought them decades of tourism shouldn’t be on their property. They use the phrase “our property” a lot by the way. I hope nobody goes there again until they replace the misguided leadership.

This is a cute little country store to walk through. I'd been here before maybe 15 years ago (wow...I'm old now...anyway) and it hasn't changed a whole lot--which is part of the charm. They have stalls from different vendors so there are many crafts and gifts to look at. There are handsewn dolls, baby clothes, jewelry, pot holders, lotions and bath products, pottery, and more. My favorite stall was a small selection of handmade 100% beeswax candles that come in molded in different shapes. They're such good quality and at very reasonable prices. I bought one that looks like a little bunny and it's the cutest thing. The staff here is so friendly and nice. I spent a good amount of time chatting with the lovely ladies that worked there. They made my afternoon and gave me some great suggestions for how to spend the rest of my afternoon here.
