I have worked in the general area for about 1 year now and have never stepped inside this place, nor in the 5+ years I used to live in the area, until today, and am I glad I did. I followed the advice of a friend from work and ordered the Carved turkey BLT sandwich and gladly accepted the offer of mayo/cranberry on the sandwich - my only regret is that I ordered a small and not large. The freshness and tenderness of the turkey was like Martha Stewart herself was standing in the kitchen carving her famous Thanksgiving turkey - amazing, the bread was nice and soft and overall the sandwich was loaded with turkey and other condiments and veggies.Price - best in town, I could not get a sandwich of this quality for a price like this anywhere, not even in small neighboring towns near Portland. Casco Variety, you have a new fan and customer!

I found some of the cashiers and servers super polite and conversational, especially at the Ice Cream stand half of the store which is owned by different people. The homemade ice cream is great, but the other half doesn't do the other side any justice. I've been to this restaurant several times because it's right by my work and I'd heard mixed reviews from friends and have tried several of their lunch and breakfast menu items. The breakfast sandwiches are really basic so it is hard to go wrong with those, but their sandwich bread seems to always be stale, the vegetables in the Italians old and bruised, and the turkey is really dry and plain. Nothing tastes restaurant quality at all. It's worth going for the cheaper items like coffee if you are making a quick stop, but mostly everything else is frozen, bad quality, and very overpriced when you consider the great quality sandwich shops in portland that also offer it at a much more reasonable place. Some of the people working there seem like they really care, but cannot do anything about the poor quality

Stopped here for dessert after eating at Gilbert's Chowder down the block and was impressed with the variety of handspun ice cream. We were given as many samples as we wanted before getting cones. The ice cream was delicious and creamy, and the store has a unique variety of goods and foods and a fresh deli in the back for sandwiches. Neat place!

Nice break from all the tourist type shops, a little bit of everything, reasonable prices, good place for a quick snack and refreshment.

My husband and I live in Portland and he pops in to get sandwiches here often. I went for the first time today and ordered a turkey and cheese sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato, salt and pepper. The only thing edible or accurate about it was the turkey. There was no mayo, no cheese, no salt and pepper, the lettuce was brown and wilted and the roll was rock hard. I returned it and got my money back. It even smells rank inside. There are great sandwich places all around this place. I recommend going elsewhere - unless you want to talk to nice people. That is the only positive comment I can make - man running the cash register was very nice and very apologetic about my bad experience.
