Kindest bank manager and employees of any bank I’ve ever been to.

I am so pleased with the proactive kind of help I get from my bank here in Clarksburg. Whenever I have questions that I might feel silly asking, it’s easier to go in person or call with such kind people there for me. Just last week I had to go in with awkward questions, and as always Cathlyn provided me with fully complete answers, explained all aspects of my account questions to me with patience and compassion! I always leave feeling informed and appreciated. Sheree & Nicole always smile and welcome me as a regular customer too, even when it has been a long while since I’ve been inside. I’m so glad to have a regular local bank with kind people working for me and my family. Cheers!

During just the past few years, this location changed ownership from Damascus Community Bank to Old Line Bank, and now it is Wesbanco. The one piece of good news is that Wesbanco’s online presence and web-banking application is much better than either of the previous banks. The bad news is that Wesbanco’s Customer Service is absolutely abysmal. I banked with Damascus Community Bank (DCB) for 15 years. The DCB staff was outstanding in every way: fast, reliable, knowledgeable, and friendly. I refinanced my home through them and it was a pleasure. They took care of everything. By contrast, Wesbanco’s staff is consistently slow: whereas a simple deposit with DCB would typically take 2-3 minutes, with Wesbanco it is at least 10 minutes or more; on one occasion, asking them to break the $20 bills (into fives) took all of 25 minutes!!! They are incredibly incompetent as well: For example, I informed them of a banking error on my checking account (erroneously costing me $40) that I discovered while balancing it. They found that the problem was with the bank that deposited the check. I figured that the problem was solved. Wrong. Several months later, I realized that the error had never been corrected, so I went back to tell them. They had no records of the event! I showed them my copies to refresh their memory. Their response was that too much time had elapsed since the error occurred, so there was nothing they could do about it! Seriously!I never imagined that the staff at any bank could be as poor at the folks at Wesbanco. They are really really pitiful.Update: During the past year since my original review, things have definitely improved in almost every way, so I have bumped up my rating to 3 stars.

Worst decision ever. I regret getting my car loan from this place. You call and they almost never pick up. You leave your info and it's just a waste of time and breath because they never call you back and it's such a hassle to make a payment. They speak to you huffing and puffing the whole time. I won't be doing business with them again that's for sure.

As a first-time home buyer, I was panicked at the thought of buying a home and the process that comes along with it. I never in my wildest dreams would have believed that working with a bank on financing would be the easiest part of the process! Scott Chopas at DCB was an absolute DREAM to work with. He was attentive, responsive and from the minute I met him, put all of my worries and concerns at ease. Throughout the entire process, he truly looked out for my best interest, and I will recommend Scott and DCB to everyone I know, especially first-time home buyers!
