I hired Jose for my kitchen remodel, and it turned into a complete disaster from start to finish.
He showed up six hours late on the first day, and then canceled on me multiple times afterward. Every time he promised to bring his full crew to catch up on the work, but only ever showed up with his wife on the two days he actually came. The job was extremely disorganized from the start.
The plumbing work he performed was not up to code. Despite multiple reminders, he poured concrete over the plumbing before inspection was completed, which is a clear violation of basic construction standards. As a result, I had to hire a licensed plumber to break open the concrete, tear up my flooring, and completely redo the plumbing just to pass inspection. This alone cost me thousands of dollars out of pocket to correct his mistakes.
His contract clearly stated that material costs would be included in the price, but throughout the project, Jose charged me directly for materials anyway, forcing me to pay out-of-pocket for expenses that were supposed to be covered. In addition, partway through the job, he attempted to inflate his prices and overcharge me mid-project for work that was either incomplete or done improperly.
He regularly subcontracted work to others, failed to manage the job properly, and ultimately stopped showing up entirely, leaving the project half-finished and forcing me to hire new contractors to clean up the mess he left behind.
Jose simply doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s unprofessional, unreliable, and has no business taking on projects of this scope. This entire experience has cost me significant time, money, and frustration. I would strongly caution anyone against hiring him.
