For the price of having a catered event here you would think the food and service would be far better tasting and catered to good customer service. Servers were rude, lacking patience and unprofessional. Food was terrible, rice was crunchy and uncooked, white chicken breast was tender but lacked flavor. I am shocked that this venue was not better as it's advertised. I could only thank God my husband and I did not select this venue for my wedding! Truly over priced and low ranking in quality, customer service and even it's appeal. Just not the place for formal events or weddings in my opinion. Their decor was drab and low budget that I am wondering who did it.

We've been members at Hunt Valley Country Club for nearly 10 years. We were just looking for a pool to join that wasn't too crowded. We were formerly at Eagle's Nest, but disliked the fact that they would have everyone exit the pool for their swim team to use the pool. When they asked all their members to write checks to help them bail the club out, we left.
HVCC sees a new general manager and staff every couple of years. So your experience may vary based upon who the staff and management is.
For the pool, there have been good years and bad years. This year, they actually outsourced the lifeguards, which has been great, but they speak little English. Food at the pool is hit or miss. A salad is $12, but add a single chopped up chicken tender to it and it jumps to $16. Beverages are pricey as well. Service is good, though, it was better under the former GM who encouraged staff to work hard to earn tips. Pool facilities definitely are showing their age with rust coming from the storage closet, cracked pavement, and a sound system that seems to work half the time. The pool isn't cleaned that often as well. We were there three times this week, and it's still dirty on the pool floor. The drinking fountain has been out of order for weeks.
Food at the Club House is generally good but overpriced. You can get the same food at Manor Tavern or Michael's Cafe for the same price or less. For the baseline membership you pay, about $220 a month, you would think they would lower food costs to encourage you to buy more. I know I would.
Activity fees are all over the map and highly inconsistent. Last year, they had Easter brunch with roast beef, ham, shrimp, and all kinds of great food for $50 per adult and $15 per child. A week later they held a pasta buffet with a magician for $75 flat eaten for anyone. That's right, noodles and sauce for $75. That must have been one hell of a magician.
While the golf course is beautiful, and the new Events Coordinator is doing a great job with programming, the fees and costs are just too high. They also charge a 3% fee monthly if you use a credit card to pay, and gratuity is worked into the pool food. So your $12 mojito is actually going to cost you $14.5.
If HVCC could:
- Lower its food and beverage prices below area restaurants to demonstrate the value of membership
- Be consistent with activity fees or include a set number of activities with the membership by default
- Keep a set of Management more than 2 years
- Develop a 10 year plan to govern the Club and execute on it
- Better maintain it's facilities and even improve them year over year
We would be staying on as members. Sadly, for what we pay each year (around $9000) we just don't see the value any more, and will be leaving the club this fall.

Staff was terrible, indifferent and couldn't care . Pushed back on three uncooked chicken(s) and then said it was the lighting, not the cooking. Beautiful place, awful professionalism, probably racist

Wow. Nov 11th I asked to be removed from mail solicitations. Apparently either their system is broken or their people are incompetent as, once again, their direct mail spam is in my mailbox - at least until it ends up in the trash then eventually into the landfill.UPDATE: MARCH 20th - Still getting their trash in my mailbox. I called this time and the representative asked for pictures of my children in the bathtub. Who does that????
