My husband had been taking our two oldest boys to classes for a few weeks when one evening my newly-four-year-old came home with dad wearing a uniform the week of his birthday. I am still not convinced he's totally ready for the class, but he wants to be like his big brothers, and Master Kyle & Co. have all been so patient (yet firm) with him as he's slowwwwly learning the ropes. Now I sometimes have to hold back our two-year-old from barreling onto the mat to show off his own punches and kicks, too.
My brazen 7-year-old often complains about having to go to class, but always comes home proud of new skills he's learned, and has picked up on how to count to 30 in Korean (which was a total surprise to randomly hear at home one day).
My shy, 9-year-old bookworm is gaining confidence in his abilities and finding his HIYAH voice with each class, and hopefully will continue to grow as well.
My boys are all pretty lazy so I appreciate hearing Master Kyle and the instructors/judges push the kids and say things like "Nobody said this would be easy" or other motivational mantras that I have said at home countless times only to seemingly fall on deaf ears. 🙈
We came for the flexible schedule (compared to crazy little league practice/game schedules for each kid on different teams) and are staying for that continued convenience, but mostly for the lessons in discipline, confidence, and resilience. Oh, and STRONG BODIES, STRONG MINDS, and GOOD SELF-DEFENSE, SIR!

The first thing that drew us to this BBA was the flexible schedule. However, the staff has kept us there for over a year now. Their compassion and passion are evident in their interactions with all the children and parents. The staff is very knowledgeable and enforce the discipline that Taekwondo requires while being warm and kind. The instructors remember the children’s names with insane accuracy from just about day 1, making each of them feel seen and important. They tailor their approaches to each child, seamlessly. I have had the pleasure of watching my neurodivergent child excel with this staff because they communicate through example, explanation, and repetition. The instructors ensure that no mistake is viewed as anything other than a growing experience. They correct with grace while conveying the importance of accuracy. Couldn’t recommend this studio enough.

I have to say, Black Belt Academy is amazing! The instructors are just fantastic and the classes are great. I can't recommend it enough! My younger brother has been attending their classes for some time now, and he has truly become a pro at the art of Taekwondo. Classes are something he finds truly enjoyable. Master Kyle and his team serve as exemplary role models for my younger brother. As for me, I've also been taking kickboxing classes at the academy, and let me tell you, it's been a blast! I've learned so much.

Master Kyle and his team are all phenomenal. Love the flexible schedule they offer to everyone. I appreciate the fact that they not only teach the lessons but they also make it fun for the students to retain. My child definitely looks forward to attending classes and practicing outside of class. As a parent they have me thinking about possibly joining. Thanks black belt for all that you do!

My boys truly enjoy the training at Black Belt Academy in Prince Frederick. The coaches are patient yet provide good discipline and structure to the youth. Also the boys have made fast friends with fellow students.

My daughter has been attending Black Belt Academy of Prince Frederick for several years. She started when she was 3 years old....7 years later and she still LOVES it. Master Kyle is an awesome instructor. He takes time with all of his students and encourages them to never give up. All the staff are super friendly and great with the kids. The facility is always clean and organized. I highly recommend Black Belt Academy of Prince Frederick to any child... or adult.

Great instructors. They are patient, always willing to go over something if they don't get it the first time. My kids love them. And they are all great at dealing with my rambunctious 2 year old that goes to watch her older siblings.

Master Kyle is an amazingly patient , knowledgeable and friendly person. He is an excellent role model to both adults and children. His experience in martial arts dates back many years and is truly a master at his craft.
I signed my youngest up a few years ago honestly thinking she would have fun for a while as a basic extra curricular as most kids do.
Just watching her a few classes my oldest and I became interested ourselves from the sheer attentiveness instructors paid to making sure it was a fun and efficient learning environment in every class.
My oldest and I both signed up almost immediately and now fast forward 2 1/2 years and many local/regional championships later for all of us we are absolutely a taekwondo/ martial arts family!
I credit this to Master Kyle and his staff being able to create an excellent structured learning environment that despite many levels of experience being present at a time for class makes no one feel left behind.

We are continually impressed with Master Kyle and his team at BBA of PF. The discipline and self confidence, and especially the self defense it teaches has really proved to be an asset for our son. I also appreciate that when a kid does act up, the behavior is addressed and not swept under the rug. The kids are held accountable, and in return my son has grown tremendously in his personal development.
The flexibility in the schedule allows our family to come any day of the week when our schedule allows, at any time of the week. That is just unheard of and why we have been able to commit long term.
Additionally, we chose to have our son's birthday party there a couple years ago and it was hands down the easiest party we have ever had. There was no minimum for guests, and Master Kyle even handled the presents and reading of cards! It blew me away. He took every stress I could would have had hosting a party and threw them out the window.

Master Kyle and his team are awesome! They really offer an environment where kids can learn and achieve confidence in their skills. Thank you Master Kyle for your patience and service to our community and kids! Tae Kwon Do at Black Belt Academy is great mind and body exercise ?. I truly enjoy the flexibility of the schedule as well!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Black Belt Academy. Master Kyle is incredible with all the kids. He is extremely patient, knowledgeable, a great teacher, and the kids really look up to him. All the other class helpers are great with kids too. My son has been attending classes for over 2 years. He not only loves it, and but he's gained confidence and discipline. I have recommended this studio to many of my friends, and I would highly recommend it to anyone else.
