Allen Young movers has moved me twice in the last 7 months. The first move was much larger. I left a house and half of the contents went to my new place and the rest went to storage. The second move was a few days ago. Both moves the trucks and movers arrived on time and were very cautious with all of my possessions. I have had no broken items and they are very good at putting all the pieces of furniture where you want them placed. They were also very helpful with final adjustments to the beds and furniture. Allen Young also have two men that are excellent packers.I have used them to pack items for me a number of times. i have been a client of Allen Young Movers over a 30 year period. I would definitely recommend them. I am so pleased to have this moved completed so successfully !! Thank you !! ... Read More

Allen young was awesome to work with! They moved me just across town but they were on time, professional, and took great care and respect of my furniture. I have some very heavy old pieces and they moved them and wrapped them perfectly. I couldn’t have asked for better movers!

We used Allen Young Movers who partnered with Stevens Worldwide Van Lines to manage our move from Boston, MA. to Del Mar, CA. They packed and moved the contents from our Boston apartment and collected contents of our storage unit in Waltham, MA. We were not present for any packing or loading of the truck. Up front we were impressed with their customer service by telephone and email. However when we started unpacking in CA we were missing several items and some things were damaged. Items ranging from an unopened shrink wrapped 12 ounce bottles of Purell, a drill, a framed print and a very sentimental box of Grandpa's things from our storage unit. Our daughter greeted the movers at our new home in CA and they told her it would be best if she checked the truck at the end of the move because if she checked each box they "would be here all day". When they were finished unloading, the lead gentleman gave her the paperwork that included the contents of the truck and asked her to sign that the truck was empty after she looked in the truck. When unpacking the boxes it became evident that the labeling on the outside of the boxes did not consistently match the contents of the boxes. As we were struggling to find things we were hoping that it was just a labeling problem. However once we were done unpacking all the boxes it was clearly evident that we were missing items. The company put a tracer on the items and when they were not found they recommended that we complete a claims form. We did and the next day we were notified that the claims were not eligible because we signed on the move in day that everything was received. I feel the practice on moving day was dishonest and misleading by asking my daughter to wait until the end of the move to provide her with the paperwork that included the contents of the truck and then ask her to sign that the truck was empty. At no time did they state by signing the paper work that she was waiving the right to make a claim on missing items. Also since the boxes were not labeled correctly acknowledging receiving a box was not a guarantee that the items were in the box. This is a temporary move and it would have been wonderful to use the same movers again next year but I will rely on reviews to select a new moving company and hope for a more honest and reliable company. Another small thing I want to mention is that when I went to my Boston apartment after the movers were finished I was not happy to find two boxes on my kitchen counter filled with packing trash and probably every drink and snack the movers had while packing. About three steps from my apartment door is a trash closet with clearly labeled recycling bins. Additionally since we are in a pandemic I want to mention that the moving team in CA had to be reminded to wear their masks. I give one star for showing up at both ends of the move at the designated times and for fixing a table that was damaged during the move. My daughter said when they were putting the table together the mover said who ever took the table apart stripped the screw. We notified the company and they sent a repairman and ordered a replacement part for the table.

If you are reading this review then you most likely are considering Allen Young Movers. Below are some tips that may help you to have a better experience than we did. - Make sure to have every single conversation with them on video or in writing. - Make sure to read every word of every single document they provide before signing anything. - Make sure to transfer any invaluable family heirlooms yourself. - When your belongings arrive at your destination, open every single box and unwrap and inspect every single item before signing off on the load. - In the event that you need to file a claim, expect it to be thrown over the fence to their national affiliate and be prepared to wait for them to process due to their "backlog of claims" (their words). - Consider choosing another moving company.

I have moved many times and this was by far the best experience I have had. The owner, Marty, the office manager, Debbie and the crew are all top notch. Every detail was carefully worked out so that there were no surprises on moving day. The crew worked hard, yet was extremely careful with the furniture and other items, never rushing or cutting corners. I am so glad I found this company!
