Max & Erma's is a chain of casual dining restaurants in the United States. It is based in the Columbus, Ohio area. Max & Erma's operates throughout several parts of the Midwestern and eastern United States and first opened its doors in the year 1972. The restaurant was created as a theme restaurant and used a converted bath tub as a sundae bar. Max & Erma's went through a number of different acquisitions during its time before filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy. As of 2017, it was announced they would be closing the original Max & Erma's locations.
