The first garage I took my car to said fixing the heat would cost $1500 because the heater core needed replacing. I declined the work. They charged me $145 just for looking at it. My parents suggested I take it to Henley Auto Repair. Henley's technician examined the heater core and found no issues. He did a flush of the core to verify and refilled the radiator fluid. Instead he replaced the thermostat. That did the trick. I had a warm car again. It cost around what the first garage charged me for their incorrect diagnosis.
