Reserved a 4 door car from Avis online. Showed up bright and early at 8 a.m. and they did not have my car. The young man said "I would have to call around to get a car." Never apologized, offer to get a car from a different location, let me use the phone or give me number to call.I asked why would Avis take the reservation if they did not have the care. He answered, "the computer takes the reservation." He eventually offerred me a mini van which was unaceptable. I ordered and needed a 4-door sedan.This happened even though he saw I was dropped off, all dresed up in a suit ready for a busy and hopefully productive day. I had to UBER to office $22.00 and rent the same car from Enterprise (for $200 more) and did not get on with my day until afternoon.This Avis location and its employee sucks!Pete A.Bingham Farm, MI

My wife could not find our confirmation information, she could not connect with the website. The Manager of Avis, saw how stressed she was, and took care of everything, she was so kind and understanding and wonderful, she made the process pain free, got us everything that we needed. Hugged my wife. I could not have asked for better service. All we could to for her was say thank you and we bought her lunch. thank you again for you kindness.

I’ve rented here over ten times. Great costumer experience; I’ve only had good experiences with the staff, and any issues were quickly resolved. Cars will vary, but it’s corporate that provides them (or takes away) their cars. Regardless, I’ve had a great streak lately with newer vehicles!

Avis cars are in great condition ,No hidden charges .location and peoples here are nice and honest.Great experience overall , I will definitely prefer to book with Avis and this location in future .

I made a reservation two weeks ago because we had family plans and I'm going to this place today and they say they don't have a vehicle available now. what kind of business is this I called 5 days ago to confirm if everything was fine and they said yes... I will never in my life rent a car with this company again

Every time I try to call for some customer service to this site I get placed on hold till an automated system picks up my call. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Will not be using them ever again

I had been renting from this location for about 10 years and I never experienced bad customer service until now. I've rented from here maybe 50 times. Between here and the Royal Oak location (same owner), at least 5 to 7 rentals a year. I was asked to provide proof of my employment. I didn't come there with my laptop or company phone but I did have my work gear on with my company logo. I know that it may not be enough but as a recurring patron, I'd assume that it would be. I was dropped off by an Lyft so I was kinda stuck. I asked to speak to a manager after the rep there insisted that I prove my employment and at this time, I was very frustrated because I thought that I should've recieved a call prior to getting there so I could be prepared to fulfill their request. The owner got on the phone and was just as rude and belittling as the rep and even said that he had someone earlier that morning prove their employment with the same company (which I don't believe), because you have to register a new device to get into the company's interface. Again, no phone or I'd or laptop, so this is challenging. It took an additional 15 minutes to do this. When I proved my employment, then I had to wait an hour for the car to get there, (premium suv), which I believe was the real reason why I had to prove my employment. If I couldn't prove the employment, then it made no sense to find a car that I wanted. I was very upset and have received no compensation for that delay. The reps at that time were consistently apologizing and were often calling their manager/owner asking for an ETA and was told that he was on the way. I was there for over and hour and a half of my time for something that if you expect it to be ready when you reserve it, it should be there. Instead I was insulted and treated like someone who has never rented from them before. And may I add, that I was behind on getting there for my rental, which for my class of a vehicle, chances are that it wouldn't have been rented out if someone else desired the vehicle. Terrible experience, be cautious before dealing with this or the Royal Oak location.

I rented a car from Avis at DTW and drove it to where I was staying in Birmingham. The vehicle wouldn't start when I tried it. I called this Avis in Birmingham to see about swapping out cars and they refused to help me. It appears that Avis is not concerned if their customers have problems with their vehicles. As a proffered customer, their customer service is very dismal.

They rented to me using a debit card/back ground check only where no other car rental would and they are very affordable!

The Avis in Birmingham, Mi., is unprofessional, horrible customer service and did not honor my reservation. The employee go off of their discretion when it come to their policies. First, they let someone who came after me get service before me and told me I had to wait outside because they was only "letting " one person at a tone come in, when they seen me grabbing my baby out of the vehicle to go in. But told me to wait outside. And the person wasn't even ready to be served because he was just sitting there inside on the phone. After about 30 minutes they finally let me come in. Then they wouldn't let me use my Debit Card for a rental even though their policy states that I can use my card for the type of vehicle I put a reserve for, and then want to question me about it. After they wouldn't let me use my card; I had to call a family member to drive all they way to their site so they could get my rental with a credit card. They told me they would wait till they got their, but gave my rental away and didn't daddy anything to me the whole time until one customer walked on to get a rental but they said theydidn't have what she reserved and she would have to pay three times more because of the type of car they had left. She was highly upset and just left. After she left I asked them, so do you even have my car that I reserve? They told me No, they gave my car away to a customer who came in right before the lady who left upset. So instead of saying anything to me when I have been sitting there for close to 2 hours, and after they said they would wait till my family who was just pulling up got there to pay for the rental; They didn't have any cars left for me. ? So I got upset, and asked why would you just let me sit here and have my family come all this way just to not have my reservations. They let people walk in while I was in there and a customer asked about wearing a masked, the employee told them they didn't have to even though on the window said you have to have a mask on.... They let people in while I had my child with me. So, instead of taking the initiative to call another Avis, I had to say something to them before they closed and then I would miss my trip. Then they send me to the Avis in Royal Oak, they had vehicles but they only let me pick between only two of them... When I got back from, my trip I brought the vehicle back with a over full tank of gas, and they still wrongfully and knowingly charged me over $48.00 for the gas refill service fee, and try to give me some lie to justify it. I DO NOT Recommend ANYONE to go to either Avis site in Birmingham for their rude, and poor service and lack of professionalism; and Royal Oak for their thievery. I AM owed $48 and I will continue to let people know about this Non Respectful, and poor customer service establishment until I am reimbursed!!!! I have been getting rentals for Years and with No issues whatsoever, but my first time at Avis was the worst.. I rather pay more at Enterprise rentals than come to Avis ever again... I need to speak with someone; I need answers or I'll just keep taking this higher up!!!!

The associates were nice but the company changed the rental deposit policy without informing their regular customers. Always had a good experience out of this location and I understand that the location can't control corporate policy changes, but the company did a bad job at this. This location always has had what I needed and when I needed it.
