I made a reservation 2 weeks prior to my moving date and received a call 1.5 hours before my scheduled pick-up time informing me that they didn't have a truck available and I needed to call corporate to move to a different location and the only potential one was 30 minutes away, vs. 5 minutes away. I also had movers scheduled to come at a certain time. When I called corporate, they couldn't help either and told me she needed her manager to call me back in 20min to 2 hours!! I told her that was unacceptable. I waited almost an hour without any communication. So I ended reaching out to UHaul who helped me with ease. I still have not heard a single word from Budget. Even though I canceled my useless reservation and stated it was because of poor customer service. Never again!

I made a reservation 6 days ahead of time, this location called me at 9 am day of and told me they did not have the truck I reserved and in fact had no other trucks for me to rent. They then charged me $75 for a no-show fee. I had to call corporate to report them. Horrible!!

Walked into this place trying to keep an open mind as it looked very rundown from the outside. The inside didn't do much to change my mind either. Spoke to the "manager" about our reservation confirmation for a truck for a same day move and he told us they didn’t have any available. No apologies, no upgrades, and none available at any other locations. Why would they send me numerous confirmation emails to only later not have a single truck. This is just embarrassing behavior for a company. Ridiculously poor customer service... 10/10 would never try Budget again regardless of the price. You get what you pay for I guess.

Summary - they didn’t communicate store hour change causing me to wait in the cold in an uncomfortable part of town for over an hour. Didn’t apologize about the mistake. Gas tank was not full despite being marked as such. Negligently inspected tow dolly. Cab was filthy and leaked. 0/10 would not recommend budget truck, especially at Hazel Park. I would never do business with them again if this is how they conduct themselves. Full Story: Yes I know it took place during the covid-19 pandemic. But you tell me if this is acceptable. I updated a reservation placed 3/30/20, then a reminder email was sent to me 3/31/20 about my pick up day on 4/2/20 at 8:30am at the location. Nothing else was communicated to me. Then came pick up day. My wife took me early so that she could make the 30 minute drive to work afterward and arrive on time. We got there early to be courteous. 8:20am - check the door and it’s locked. We decide to wait until 8:30am because that’s when they open anyway. Then we check a hand written sign in the window near the door. It shows updated hours with 10am being the opening time. So here I am - 38 degrees, unsavory part of town, and my wife now late for work. She didn’t want to just leave me there so we both make some calls to customer service (she calls a neighboring city (Troy) budget truck and I call corporate). Troy budget truck tells her someone will show up in half an hour. Corporate tells me he can’t do anything because this was a last minute change and I’ll just have to wait. I ask to have them cover an uber or something - but he refused. I call in and get a different agent on the phone who transfers me to another department. He says oh yes, they definitely should have notified you about the operating hour change - then said he could get a message to the manager but response could be 15 minutes to an hour. I say that beats waiting until 10am. Anyway, my wife leaves, I end up waiting until 9:30 when this employee shows up. He doesn’t acknowledge me. He just goes through the door, unlocks it, and sits down at the desk. I walk in and he asks if I have a reservation. I say yes - for 8:30am. Then I ask if he was sent from Troy. He says no (so basically he was just showing up for his regular shift is what it sounded like to me). I give him my information, license, etc. He starts trying to up-sell me on their insurance stuff and I say I’m not interested because mine covers it. So then he tells me the total cost I was quoted. I rehearse all of what is wrong here and ask if there is anything he can do. He responds with “These are unforeseen circumstances, I just hope you’d understand that”. I say that’s unacceptable and good customer service should still be practiced by updating customers. He says he cannot adjust anything, he’s the manager, and then asks if I still want the truck. I say I don’t really have a choice.Then he went out to the truck to check some things and pulls out the car dolly (does not attach it or put it by the truck). He came back inside and had me sign and initial everything. I didn’t see at the time, but he marked the fuel level at the full line, but it was actually at 7/8ths of a tank. Also, the cab was absolutely disgusting. Trash was everywhere, nasty sticky stuff on the dash, full ash tray, etc. Then I backed up the truck close to the tow dolly. Before attaching it though, I inspected it. This employee was inside chilling and already sent me on my way. It was missing a pin for the passenger side strap. I went to tell him. He has to come out and look at it himself - then went and grabbed one. Truck bed was also filthy. Then to add insult to injury, the cab had a leak dripping on my wife in the passenger seat during a rainstorm. After the truck was returned, I called back into corporate. Apparently, the best they could offer me for all these issues was a $75 refund (which started at $50).

Had to rent a truck last minute for a move. Great service. Weekend hours are wrong on google for some reason. Hours are 9-4 Saturday and 9-1 Sunday.

This Budget location failed to fulfill our reservation or even show up to open the store at all - this location was not open at 8am as Saturday as listed on Google. We made a reservation to pick up the truck at 8am expecting someone to be there working - nope! Even Budget’s customer service personnel were unable to explain why no person was there to help. Budget’s telephone customer service personnel were not helpful in reconciling the problem - 8 transferred calls later we were placed on a list to be contacted by the Budget inventory manager. The Budget inventory manager contacted us quickly but completely misunderstood the situation and tried to offer us a smaller truck than we initially booked... at this same location where no one was available. When I explained that I didn’t want a different truck, I wanted a different location that was open, he had no solution, said have a nice day, ended my call abruptly, and I then received an email that my reservation was cancelled. If you want a reliable company that honors reservations and won’t throw a wrench in your moving plans, pick a company besides Budget. We’re very disappointed.

I made a reservation for my truck and trailer 2 months ago to pick up here. I arrived at 8:30am for my 9 am pick up. Hours say it’s open 8-5. It’s now 9 and no ones here. And no ones picking up a phone. This is garbage.

I had rented a truck weeks in advance, and I received a call half an hour before my pickup time to inform me that the people before me didn't bring the truck back. I understood because this wasn't the fault of Budget. They stated they would follow up with me about getting a different truck as the previous renters weren't answering the phone. This was around 2 pm. I informed them I had a res with my movers at 4 pm. It's now 5, and despite MULTIPLE unanswered calls, I have gotten no reply. I had to rearrange my ENTIRE MOVE. I will not be paying for the cancellation of this truck and will go with U-Haul, as I can trust them. Avoid this location.
