Nice area for many activities! There is a swimming beach, boat ramp, park, campground, trails, and probably more. Fun to see the big fish at the dam. Trails are scenic, with lots of wildlife. Older park equipment, but still fun for younger kids.

Nice campground. Large sites. My only complaint is with the Park Rangers. 2 out 3 nights around 10:10PM Ranger Rick warned us that it was quiet hours. We were making smores with the kids. I couldn't hear our group a site away. I have camped 100+ nights at state and federal parks and have never been warned to quiet down.

Lovely quiet campground, clean and well maintained. I almost gave 5 stars, the only issue is that it's not super big-rig friendly (it's not impossible, just some of the sites have trees too close to the campsites, you'll see a lot of them have bumper-height scars, especially at the edge by the road, we didn't hit ours but it took us about 5 tries to back in playing dodg'em with the trees and had to go in crooked so our slideout wouldnt hit a shrubby tree). If you have a smaller camper you probably wouldn't have a problem, and there are several sites we noted would be easier for future visits (I hesitate to write them here since it could make them harder to get... 7, 11, 17, 25, and then 22 is the only pull-through). Also, if you come in from East Gull Lake Drive, there is a point right before you get to the recreation area where you think "this can't be right, I must have messed up!" (because the road gets narrow and looks like it's just going to some private cottages and there will be nowhere to turn around) and then there's a narrow one-lane bridge. I really recommend coming in on Gull Lake Dam Rd if it works for your route at all.Another review mentioned how diligent the rangers are about quiet hours, the reviewer was writing it as a criticism but I read that and thought "that sounds perfect!". We did find it to be totally quiet after 10pm, if anyone who has anything to do with running this campground ever reads this, please keep up the good work!! We also observed that the volunteer hosts were extremely on top of cleaning up sites after people left. For activities, there is a playground, fishing near the dam (with a fish cleaning station), a place to put in canoes/kayaks and the park rangers hosted a few activities like nature bingo and a hike. We were in the area for a family reunion, so we didn't participate in them but it was nice they had them and also that they told us about them when they checked us in. There is also a day-use area of the park, which we didn't visit, but according to the pamphlet it has a boat ramp, swimming beach, another playground, picnic area, volleyball, basketball and horseshoes. In the campground is a clean shower house with flush toilets and then vault toilets in 2 smaller buildings that were not stinky. There are several water bottle fillers, which I've never seen in a campground before and we did take advantage of them.We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area!Playground: It looked like a pretty fun playground, I posted some photos.Restrooms: Clean and not stinkyDog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome and the rangers make a point to tell everyone about their leash rule ? which I appreciated as I have a cat who walks on leash.

Camped for a long weekend during beautiful fall colors. Campground was well maintained and I always felt safe. The only thing was some campsites are pretty exposed to the road or close to neighbors but would recommend!Restrooms: Cleaned daily and are always open

Overall a really nice well maintained and clean campground. We enjoyed our stay for the most part. Staff and volunteers are wonderful. Sites are huge. On the downfall we hated our site aside from the large size. We had a street lamp directly in front of our site #9. It lit up our entire campsite at night. All we wanted was a nice dark campfire but felt like we were city camping in our backyard at home. I get these are here for safety reasons but there are so many lamps. Maybe even a little dimmer after 10 would be nice. No water spigots or Porta potties near the campsites. I didn't realize checkout was noon. Wish check in/out was a little later like state parks. Fishing wasn't great but we did drive around to others areas.

Really liked this campground. Very nice bathhouse, fish cleaning station and nice park for kids. Fun watching the fish from the bridge. Sites were spacious but a bit tight getting into due to all the trees. Ranger was very nice and helpful. Close to town.

Nice clean campground. Spacious sites. Quiet time at 10pm. Park rangers will walk by then and tell you to be quiet if they can hear you from the road. No one complains about the noise, it's just the rangers saying to be quiet. Quite frustrating. Been going for several years and it's always the same thing. By far the worst campground for rangers harassing about the noise when it isn't even loud.

Our campsite was well maintained. Bathrooms were clean. Bugs were not bad. Friendly staff around camp. There is a nice beach just a short walk away. Loved our trip!Dog-friendliness: Lots of people brought their dogs and just had to leash them around the campground.

Gull Lake is a pretty cool place. It's $5 to get to the boat launch and the beach. The water was very cold the day we went but it was still nice when the sun was out to cool off. There is also a playground right off the beach. It's not a big beach but it was perfect for the amount of people that were there. By the dam there is fishing and a nice little playground. There is also a campground that you do have to reserve online. They fill up quickly. We stayed for 5 days, it's a very wooded area but you can still see through to the other campsites around you. A lot of mosquitoes. There is a dump station, if you're not a camper it's five dollars.Playground: Very nice playground by the beach also a very nice playground by the dam.

Very nice camping sites, very spread out with lots of wooded areas between sites. Was a quiet campground despite a holiday weekend. Park rangers made rounds continually and were very friendly.Would recommend!

The campground site that we stayed at, #8, was one of the best sites here. It was big and surrounded by trees, but some of the other sites backed up to a chain link fence that appears to be a neighbors property. I would not want to camp near someone's house.Secondly, if you are thinking about going here for fishing, think again before you do. The waters are overrun with carp the size of small sharks. They are EVERYWHERE. After 2 hours of fishing we caught one very tiny large mouth bass. The carp are out of control and someone really needs to address this problem. Other than that, the campground in general was extremely clean and well kept.

Wow, Wow, Wow, what a GEM this campground is!!!!! We have been traveling for 2 months and this BY FAR is THE BEST campground yet, hands down!! We lived here in the Brainerd lakes areain the past only miles from this campground and never checked it out but we were happily surprised by it! Fishing is so close, campsites soooo secluded, very roomy, heavily wooded and very private (or at least ours was), bathroom facilities were good and not to far away. Hiking trails are close by, town is super close with everything you might need while in the area which is grea! All in all we can't wait to come back to this campground.... Highly recommend it for sure!!!

Shouldn’t even give one star. If they could charge you to use the restroom, they would. NOT QUIET AT ALL. Really busy freeway that’s not even 1/4 mile away, dogs barking EVERYWHERE. Not private what do ever. You’re on top of everyone’s site.
