After reading reviews about how this place had the best view of the lake, we went for drinks there. Sure it has a great view. The only thing is that you can’t have a drink or eat while looking at it! There’s a table and a couple of chairs out there but come on people if you’re going to advertise your great view, spend some money on having a great licensed patio to eat and drink on. Really disappointing.

Went here for thanksgiving lunch with a large group of family.
Not expecting much because it's basically in the middle of nowhere.
The menu was pretty set in stone and they acted annoyed when we asked for an additional potato.
Their credit card reader was down and it took the over 20 minutes to run all of the cards for our group on under 30.
They do have a great view of the lake but very dated interior and food.
Tastes as if you grandmother had made dinner and it sat under a heat lamp for half an hour.
Very friendly staff!

We wanted a place with good food and local appeal. We found it here. The staff were extremely friendly and eager to please. The location was superb and the views of the lake and the dam were fabulous. The food is good. Not gourmet but good down home cooking. I would rate the location a 5 and the food a 3. So round it out to a 4. If you stay in Ogallala, you really should eat here.

We've been here a few times and have not been disappointed. This restaurant started in the 40's as a cafe to serve the workers on the dam. It has one of the best views of the lake and Kingsley Dam.

It took a great effort to find the Hill Top Inn because Trip Advisor had the home address of the owner, not the address of the Inn. The real address is 197 Kingsley Drive, Ogallala, NE. Actually the Inn is about 8 miles north of I80 overlooking Lake McConaughy. The service and friendly nature of the Inn were excellent. The view of the Lake and Dam were outstanding and the diners went to watch the spectacular sunset. The menu and food were very good. We had rib eye steak, sweet potato fries, potato soup, side salad, and home made onion rings. All very good.
