Great trail! Definitely go around the loop counter-clockwise if the trail is wet, and having good shoes for climbing the rocks is helpful.

Welch Dickey is a loop with several great views along the trail. It’s not extremely difficult or long, and it is a great trail for viewing the fall foliage. When it’s busy, either come early in the morning or wait until early afternoon. I came mid-October on a Saturday around 1 pm: the lot was full (except for one space that I snagged), and there were cars lined up for about a mile down the road. Parking is $5 cash or card.Parking: There are around 20-30 spaces in the lot, and overflow down the road leading up to the lot for many more vehicles.Restrooms: There is a small building with two restrooms at the parking lot.

One of the best hikes I've been on in NH! It's definitely a moderate skill, leaning towards harder rather than easier because there's a lot of incline.Make sure you have plenty of water and some snacks so you can rest a bit at the summits. If you bring your dog make sure their paws are in good shape beforehand, it's a lot of bare rock so it will wear on their pads. The views on the top are great, can't wait to do this hike again in the future!

Did the trail in October. Great weather and amazing views! Well marked. Perfect difficulty. Amazing views for most of the hike. Parking was full when we got there at 10am so youll have to park on the road

Excellent views & a great hike if you don’t want to travel farther up north and spend half the day on the mountain. I’ve done this loop numerous times (recommend going counter-clockwise). Bring $5 cash for the self pay parking fee, or have an annual white mountain or national park pass. I would avoid the hike in wet conditions, as some areas near the summit require steep rock scrambles.Parking: Ample parking during the week, will fill up on a popular weekend dayFees: $5 cash or check, or annual white mountain or national park passRestrooms: Outhouse in the parking lot

One of the most popular trails in the White Mountains, for good reason. If you don't want crowds go early.7am on an October Sunday I was the 4th car there, when I finished the loop around 10am there were 100 or more cars filling the parking lot and parked all down the road. $5 parking by machine which accepts card which is cool for being in the middle of the woods.Alternatively I've also hiked in April after a snowstorm and was one of only 3 people there the entire hike. The hike itself is challenging but on the easier end for a White Mountain hike. Lots of exposed steep rock slabs. There are 2 separate peaks, each with great views throughout. Took my dog and I just over 3 hours with photo breaks.Dog friendly, my 8month puppy enjoyed it, I had to lift him up once on a steep section. If you have a small dog you may have to do this more frequently.

Amazing views! Highly recommend!! My boyfriend and I hiked it in 2.25 hours with a couple of stops to sit, eat, and take in the 360 mountain views. Its definitely got some steep rock climbs that are a little challenging. Wouldn't recommend bringing a dog unless they are more experienced hikers. One of the best hikes in the white mountains, can't wait to hike again!

Amazing trail. Did it myself in 3 hours. Plenty of parking on a Friday. Ticket machine does not work though. Excellent views but steep hike. I wore flat sneakers and was lucky that I was all dry. Lots of dogs off leash, which was nice for us.

A Mix of Challenge and Beauty!Last Saturday, we embarked on an adventure at the Welch Dickey Trailhead. Our morning started off in a thick fog, but Mother Nature soon unveiled her true colors as the fog lifted by the time we reached the first summit. What greeted us was a picturesque panorama that was worth every step. However, the trail is not without its share of challenges. Most notably, the large rock slabs that form substantial parts of the route can become extremely slippery. Even though the trail has a moderate difficulty level, a few of my fellow hikers had trouble navigating these slick surfaces and needed assistance. This might be a point to note for novice hikers or those with limited physical agility. In terms of trail clarity, there is some room for improvement. A few crucial trail signs are missing, which made navigation a bit of a guessing game at times. On more than one occasion, we found ourselves straying from the path. While this added to the sense of adventure, it might pose challenges for those less familiar with the area or those hiking in less than ideal conditions. To sum it up, Welch Dickey Trailhead is a beautiful, rewarding hike, but it could benefit from some maintenance and additional safety measures. The trail requires a level of fitness and navigational skills due to the slippery rock slabs and the lack of clear path markers. Nonetheless, the stunning views and the feeling of accomplishment make the Welch Dickey trailhead a worthwhile experience for any avid hiker.
