The food is so legit here, just like if you were eating at your grandma's house. The chips came with a spice on top that made them addicting. I've eaten the tacos as well as the tortas. Come and explore the menu, you won't be disappointed. Due to COVID-19 the hours might be different so call them before.

We ordered a quesadilla, a fish taco and a chicken fajita taco. The quesadilla was overcooked and all dried out. The cheese in it was tasteless. The fish taco was fine but overstuffed with lettuce. I lived in Central Mexico for five years and never had lettuce on any taco there. Apparently, the kitchen crew here has never been to a Tex-Mex place for chicken fajitas. If they had, they'd know that the chicken (or other meat) is ALWAYS marinated before cooking and that the chicken is ALWAYS cooked with onions and sliced bell peppers. The chicken fajita taco here was filled with relatively large chunks of white meat chicken that hadn't been seasoned (not even with salt as far as I could tell) or marinated; just cut up and cooked. The only other ingredient in the chicken fajita taco seemed to be shredded lettuce. Your mom's tacos almost certainly had shredded lettuce but authentic Mexican tacos which is what Don Choche should be shooting for - no way; won't happen. Shredded lettuce on tacos is strictly an north-of-the-border affectation. Actually chicken fajitas aren't really Mexican either, although you can find them on some menus in Mexico, almost certainly because American tourists have insisted on it. Same with burritos - way more American than Mexican. And how come no tacos al pastor? And how come, since Zacateras closed, no "Mexican" place in ABQ offers cochinita pibil tacos? Cochinita pibil and al pastor are by far my two favorite kinds of tacos but if you want the former, you have to make it yourself and the tacos al pastor available locally all seem to be somehow lacking. Perhaps by the time this place gets its license to sell cerveza, it'll figure out how to make a proper chicken fajita taco or perhaps just make a more interesting real Mexican chicken taco. They need to keep a much closer eye on their quesadillas too to ensure they're not cooked so long that they're overcooked and dried out.

I love their truck and was so happy to see they moved into the neighborhood. Great tacos. Fantastic Barbacoa as long as you get there before it runs out.

Unlike Sushi places there is a million and two excellent (New) Mexican restaurants in ABQ. At least that is what it feels like. In my 2 years here I only found one really crappy (New) Mexican restaurant. This one wasn't it. I had a taco plate which came with chips & salsa of your choice. Even though not the best in town all 4 tacos were tasting great, waking my appetite and interest in some of the other dishes on the menu. 4 stars for the fact that you could only chose two different types of meat for the plate of 4 tacos and that there is still room for improvement overall, which is normal for new restaurants. My rating is definitely preliminary and depends on how the other food tastes. The place was reasonably priced for the Nob Hill area and the service was very good.
