This really is the worst whole foods branch in all of NYC. Built originally as a "discounted version" based on the 365 brand, that concept has since been abandoned, and this branch is left with none of the WF signature frills (no butcher station, no seafood counter, no on premises bakery) except for the exceptionally high prices. As if all that isn't enough, many basic products are often out of stock, the checkout lines are poorly designed and there is almost always a shortage of cashier staffers. I just left empty handed after witnessing over 100 people in line with about 7 staffers at checkout. Utterly disappointing, again and again

Do NOT go to this Whole Foods. The lines are a half hour long and they have no self checkout. This wouldn't be an issue if they had enough people checking customers out- but on the weekend they maybe have 5,6 tills open. It's ridiculous

First time here. When they say “more food upstairs” at their hot food bar, I thought there were so I took the escalator. Then some undercover security stopped me as if I’m stealing. Turned out there’s no checkout upstairs, and there's no sign telling people they should only check out downstairs. Obviously you just need a clear sign not someone undercover that makes everyone guilty. Also there’s no food upstairs.

Compared to Union Sq & Bowery locations this location is supreme. As Black ppl it is imperative that we are allowed to shop without being racially profiled. This location is an exemplary example of equality. I always feel welcomed & the floor staff are always very helpful. These folks need to train folks at Bowery & Union Square locations. Thank You Ashland Place Staff for showing us that BLACK SHOPPERS MATTER

Most bizarre interaction with an employee during check out. I asked for paper bags, she didn’t bag anything. Not a problem. so when she was done scanning everything, I ask again for bags and she got an attitude with me. She started bagging my stuff, so I figured be nice and help her since it’s busy. Then she jumped back and threw her hands in the air and refused to help. It was like I was diseased or something. I ended bagging my groceries myself. The whole experience was bizarre and uncomfortable. The products are consistently good.

Ended in having to order groceries today something I would never do cause I think it's for lazy people or fat ones but desperate times call for desperate measures. Anyway from the time I ordered it on Amazon's website it was ready within 15 minutes. I checked in while walking to the store and by the time I got there there was a guy ready with my groceries bagged. It saves time when you're in a rush or just to más to be around others. The only thing I didn't like was they don't give bagá with handles aside from that it was pure perfection.

The day I visited Whole Foods, it was low in stock on many items I was looking for. The store was very organized and clean. I’m not sure if they have a bathroom. It wasn’t crowded during shopping. However when I got ready to check out. The lines were very long. They only had two cashiers working. Then eventually more cashiers came. It took twenty minutes to check out. I wish I came a different day.

Didn't go there for food but am Amazon return. I went to the basement level and they told me the Amazon returns was to my right. After doing a lap in the store I went back up stairs and found the returns area for Amazon. So FYI it's on the entrance level. Nice store though! Just need to know where they send people lol

They don't have any whole wheat bread! The fresh whole wheat boule bread is one of the best items at other Whole Foods but sadly this location does not sell this. I'm surprised they don't have any whole wheat bread though, even the pre-sliced prepackaged loafs. Their bakery has most other types (sourdough, olive bread, seeduction), so this seems like an unusual omission. Other than that, great selection of fruits vegetables and other healthy food!

I'm uncertain why the low reviews. Their prices have gotten a lot more reasonable over the years and their sales, especially if you're a prime member, are kick ass. It's sucks that there is no service as it's in the basement but so is life. Their offerings are extensive and the lines though may be long are relatively quick. They have a water fountain and bathrooms which is sweet. Also a pretty good vegan burger/fries/shakes place on ground floor.

I honestly try to avoid shopping here regardless of the store's quality itself, because I rather just not give Amazon any more money. But I would reluctantly go to WF because it's convenient, and I do appreciate that their meats are animal welfare certified. But, even so, the store has taken such an extreme nosedive in quality over the last couple months. Their produce is almost always on the verge of going bad, especially any leafy greens, they're constantly sold out of basics, their prices have increased quite a bit (admittedly, so did everyone else's), and it's always such a mess in the store, with people getting in arguments over their archaic cashier line system, an army of people pulling from shelves for home deliveries so it's hard to walk through the store, etc. There just isn't really any reason to go to this store anymore.

Went to return something at the Amazon counter. Quick and friendly customer service. The food is good and the bathroom is clean. Plenty of seating on first floor. Elevator and escalators. Only complaint: prices advertised on Amazon are lower than in the store.

The main reason for my visit today was the salad bar. They have both a hot and scold salad bar available for one flat fee. I had some excellent tortellini, a lovely potato salad, some jerk boneless chicken thighs that were out of this world, which sounds like a complete exaggeration. So let's say out of this world for a supermarket. I'm from Little Haiti so I know a thing or two about Jerk spice. Anyway, I highly recommend the salad bar. This is a multi-level location with the main part of the store located in the basement of a high-rise and even with all of the artwork and you know way to go brooklynisms once you get to the checkout, it feels pretty dystopian. There's no self checkout here though, so you're going to have to wait in a long line but it moves pretty quickly. They have like 20 registers.
