This place gives superb service and enjoyable meals. One of my favourite spots around here. The drinks and food served fast and the rates are fair. Highly recommended.

One of the spiciest Thai restaurants in NYC! Excellent steam table. Very clean. You'll find dishes here you'll find no where else in NYC.The place is POPULAR and if you don't go earlier, you won't have much to choose from. This is not really a place I would hit for dinner, but if fast casual is your idea of a dinner experience, all the more power to you.Go check out Thai Thai Grocery across the street afterwards. P. Noi will hook it up.

I went to this spot for the first time to try their 3 dish and rice and got the spicy fish with eggplant, spicy beef and green curry chicken. All were very delicious but the beef was very spicy. Flavor was on point for all 3 but if you cannot handle spice, I'd recommend getting something else besides the beef.

This is another place that I bookmarked a really long time ago but never went...until now! Wow, what have I been missing?!?! This is such a gem. I will definitely be back SOON!
Khao Kang reminds me of the Chinese quick meal places where they offer "3 items over rice". Entrees are premade and kept warm in a steam table. You can either pick 2 or 3 items over rice ($9.75/$10.25) or you can get an item as an entree by itself ($10.50, no rice included; side order of rice is $1.50). They also have appetizer/small snacks by the front register, as well as a refridgeration area with sweets/desserts.
On this visit, we ordered the below items:
- Green Curry w.Chicken (entree portion $10.50) - portion size was huge; this dish was delicious! Spicy but not too spicy. Fantastic flavor. Loved it!
- 2 items over rice $9.75 (I chose garlic pork and basil fish). This comes in a container with 3 compartments. The bigger compartment has rice and the smaller compartments are for your chosen entrees. Both entrees I chose were good but not mind blowing. The garlic pork was tasty but a little tough. The basil fish was good but would have been better had they not used fried fish because the fried fish got very soggy. Still, it was very flavorful.
- Tapioca Pearl dessert -soooo good! The sweetness really complimented the spicy meal.
I really loved that the dishes were spicy enough to satisfy spicy food lovers (me), as well as those who can't handle too much spicy food.
The only negative was I felt really rushed to pick my entree choices, even though there was only one other customer behind me. I can understand the rush if it were during peak time, but it was empty when I was there. Still, all in all, I shall be back!

Food tastes Good but way too spicy for Medium and I usually can handle spice. The Ka prao has like 20 green pepper like jalapeno seeds spread out.

I certainly loved the food and customer service, great area close to my apartment. The cashiers are always welcoming. Would recommend to others.

I LOVE THIS SPOT!
Khao Kang has been a reliable place to get food for lunch or dinner for me. This spot is like Chinese rice box places but it's with Thai food. They serve curry dishes and stir fry dishes over rice - you can choose two or three and you can top it with an egg, if you like. They always have a rotating variety of different dishes, so you just don't know what they have that day, which is part of the fun. :) I always go for the three choices options because I love variety and it's great for sharing the plate with someone. One thing to watch out for is that their spicy level is no bs, so don't get too much spicy dishes, if you do not have a high tolerance. I always go for one of their curry selections, particularly their green curry - it goes great with rice and their spice level is on point. I also really love their chili fish fillet stir-fry with string beans and eggplant, stir-fry string beans with squid and shrimp, garlic fried pork, and etc. I also like trying new interesting dishes.
Other noteworthy items to get on the side is the Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. So good! The sticky rice is neatly packed in a plastic bag just in cause you need to reheat it at home. Mangoes were really sweet (probably got lucky since it is in season!) and the coconut milk just ties everything together. I did see some rice-wrapped rolls and chive dumplings that peek my interest, I'll probably try those next time.
For drinks, the Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee are both pretty good and accompanies my meal especially when I ate a super spicy bite!

The best quick but delicious meal. My go-tos are the bbq pork, the vermicelli noodles, and the chives with liver. The minced pork is good too but only get it if you can handle spice! Eggplant with fish is also good. Usually you order three options plus rice in a tray, but you can also order each option as a bigger individual entree which is good for groups (like my photo).

If you can handle spicy ? food then this is your spot! The food is on point authentic Thai so not for people that can’t handle the heat. Prices are higher than typical Chinese takeout but they also take care in the food they serve. Everything is premade and scooped to order. Don’t expect anything fancy. Expect solid good food

I love coming here on weekends. People who work there on weekends are incredibly nice and the food taste better too, I just feel different or maybe it’s just me. Overall, this place has a real authentic taste for Thai food and it’s cheap to grab a meal here!

This spot is great, everything others have written about authenticity, service and price is spot on.
I would like to make one small point that I hope they take to heart.
Not enough vegetarian options. Most times none.
Who commonly eats a meal where every dish is animal based?
Most times I stop by I am frustrated with no vegetarian option.
I can deal with some fish sauce or shrimp paste, not asking them to jump through any special hoops.
Thai food restaurants have been a solid haven for vegetarians and sometimes vegetarians forever.
So I'm just saying if you get choice of 2 or three entrees, can we get some minus the animal protein?
Not like delicious food is going to go to waste.
Usually 8 entrees or more. Two nice vegetables side dishes would be killer.
Vegetarians are very loyal patrons.

One of my Thai friend recommended this place. It is located on a street that has been blocked off for outdoor dining on Saturday at least. It is cafeteria style; if you are looking for home like cooking then you would enjoy it. You picked 2 or 3 entrees, comes with rice about $13. It is plenty if you select 3 plus egg for 2 light eaters or one hungry person. Egg is an additional charge. There custard in pumpkin is good. When it reads 'spicy' please note this is no joke if you cant handle heavy spicy. Everything was good that I had. Cash only! Service is polite and kind and efficient. I believe if you like more mainstream Thai dishes, go to their sister restaurant couple doors away.

Khao Kang!!! Can't say enough about this place, it's the best Thai food hands down in NY. It's super authentic and home style cooking. Their food never disappoints. They only thing I would warn people of is if you have a sensitive stomach and can't handle spicy food just be aware. You will definitely pay for it later. Me as a spicy food lover saying this means a lot.

One of the best place in queens if you are craving for a nice Thai food. It goes by plate and you can pick two to three items to go with the rice. A good place if you are into Thai foods.

Great place for a quick Thai fix. Decent selection of entrees and good. Careful when they label spicy. It is spicy.

Maybe my favorite Thai restaurant in NYC. Different, deep, often spicy flavors. Great three dish over stove steam table format. Fun desserts mostly to go there or at their sister spot next door. Grab a drink at Pata across the street after if it's evening!

It is a cute place to choose a variety of Thai food. All the food I ordered are quite spicy and they do also have nonspicy food as well. Pla pad cha is my fav which goes well with thai iced tea. Overall a chill place. Not particularly stands out from the area but still hits the spot . Maybe a bit too salty

One of the best Thai foods in NYC. It serves a wide variety of food options daily. It's a good spot for when you want to eat a bit of multiple things since you have the option of picking 2-3 entrees + white rice. This spot is unique in taste and leans more towards the spicier side, so let the workers know if you can't tolerate too much spiciness and they will guide you to which entrees to pick from. I've eaten here probably 100s of times because I find it to be good value. Sometime I can break it into two meals and save money too. Also if you sit there for just several minutes, you'll notice that a bunch of Thai people eat here - I believe that this is testimonial for how delicious this place is. The native people's choice!

Khao Kang is one of my favorite Thai places in Elmhurst. They serve the food cafeteria style, where there's a selection of pre-cooked entrees that you can choose from. You can get either 2 or 3 entrees with rice and an optional fried egg. You won't find your standard Thai fare like pad thai or drunken noodles here; instead, they typically have curry, pork, chicken, shrimp, veggies, etc. The entrees range from non-spicy to extremely spicy. Unfortunately my pathetic spice tolerance can't even handle their medium spice dishes so I'm really only limited to the non-spicy stuff, one of which is the BEST. PORK. EVER. Seriously, the fried garlic pork is the thing to get here - it's slightly sweet and caramelized and just delicious. If you're in the mood for dessert, they also sell some packaged in containers, or you can go next door to their sister restaurant Khao Nom.

Thank you for such wonderful food. I missed Thai food so much since I moved away. Nothing compares to Thai food in Elmhurst. And the great food coming out of this kitchen. Thank you chef for great desserts too. Pray for good business and good health. I've been coming here for so long and happy to return to area today.

I go to this marvelous place once a month because I like the good air that is characterizes this restaurant. The staff is exceptionally helpful and professional. The service is extraordinarily rapid. Needless to say, the food you eat is magnificent. I frequent often and I was always pleased. The expense is fair. I suggest this restaurant to to everybody.
