Since returning from abroad, I have had many disappointing experiences at a few Buffalo-area Tops locations. As a child and young adult I recalled many of visits to be second to none if not on par with perineal competitors such as Wegmans, however in recent years, Top Friendly Markets consistently has lagged behind by way of price, cleanliness, quality, selection, customer service when matched against local, national and international chains that have entered the Western New York market within the past decade. My frustration with Tops started when first returned to the area May of 2015. I wanted to return bottles and cans for their deposit at the Tops Main and Union location. I had various redeemable container purchased at different Supermarkets throughout the area. I inserted various bottles and cans into the machines which were purchased at several non-Tops stores such as Wegmans. All the cans were accepted and credited with the acceptation of a few others - the containers that were once filled with drinks I had purchased at another Tops locations the other side of Last year, I was shopping for bananas the Tops Maple and Transit location. After I inserted my phone into the front pocket of my shorts, the mobile phone fell to the floor. As I was about to pick up the phone I noticed a working heading in the path where the phone fell a few feet away. The worker, wearing black shirt with a red collar, was dangerously close, so instead instead of reaching down to pick up my phone I told the worker "I dropped my phone" and "watch out." Oblivious to my commands, the worker ran over my phone with the cart, causing two of the four wheels of the cart to knock the flimsy cover of the phone and and cause damage to the screen and stylus. Judging by the colors of the employee's shirt I was certain it was a Tops employee who had damaged my phone. I called Tops customer service explain what had happened but they insisted that they reviewed video of the incident and insisted that it was not a Tops Employee they view in the incident, but a Coca Cola vender and they were not responsible. I had no idea how it would be possible that representative of Cola Cola would be pushing a cart carrying produce into the produce department. She along with other representatives told that a representative of Coca Cola's insurance provider would be in touch with me and warned that I could that I could be responsible for committing fraud. When I got in touch with Coca Cola's insurance representative I was stunned how unprofessional she was. I assumed she had access to the very same video the Tops employees had allegedly viewed and insisted she view it. "Check the video," I said. She then replied "yeah, I'll check the video," with a hint of sarcasm. I said it may not have been a Coca Cola employee because the person maneuvering the cart was wearing a shirt like most Tops employees commonly wear. I then asked what she saw in the video. After asking. She then revealed to me that there was no video and the call ended abruptly thereafter. Following the call, I continued to call Tops' costumer service to inform them what happened , insisting it was Tops and the Coca Cola Company that was responsible for the damage of my mobile phone. To this day, I was compesated by Tops with not even a ten-doller gift certificate. It's really a shame how petty Tops has become.

I had a very pleasant experience shopping at this tops. usually I go to the one on Broadway but decided to switch it up tonight. I was having a hard time finding a couple items for a couple recipes that I found the other day I was getting pretty bummed because I didn't think they had what I needed. then I asked a young gentleman I believe his name was Riley if he could help me and he stopped what he was doing just to help me find what I was looking for I was so excited when he found it think I might have to keep going to this one! the store is so clean and organized and the staff seemed ready to help with whatever I needed.

Yelp didn't like my last review apparently so here it goes again. Front-end management constantly berates it's cashiers in front of customers for needing assistance/overrides. These things are generally outside of the cashier's control. When you walk over a second time to the same cashier you were just at because you were too busy the first time giving a long-winded lecture to actually complete your override then say "WHAT NOW!?" a gaggle of customers groan in unison. People generally like to give money to businesses that treat their employees right, and this kind of behavior shines some high beams on the work culture at Tops.

Ended up walking in here to grab a couple of items for a party I forgot, and since I was closer to this Tops than the one I usually go to up the road, I thought why not. First time in here, and the last. The whole store smells like a horse farm, it's almost as if someone stepped in s*** and walked around the whole store. I walked up some of the aisles looking for what I intended on coming here for but ultimately ended up walking out empty handed due to the smell being very overwhelming. The store seemed very dirty, unorganized for it only being (9pm) on a Tuesday night. The staff I encountered were very friendly, although there were about three of them watching the Self Checkout, odd - At other locations they only have one. Avoid this location if possible, the one a little further down Transit is wayyy better and doesn't smell awful.

I've shopped at this location for over a decade and it's really gone down hill. Mostly, the produce section which has been the primary reason I stopped coming here regularly. Produce- they will either be out of what's on sale, or the selection they have on the shelf is not very good, sometimes even rotting on the shelf. Also I've had bad luck with expiration dates here. Positives: Their large pizza and 20 wings combo is excellent! $20 and the pizza is decent, very cheesy, pepperoni cooked to perfection, good amount of crust and dough. Wings weren't as crispy but next time I will request an extra minute or two in the fryer. Also, if you like Bob's Red Mill, they sell many of their products in bulk here! Considering this Tops was renovated a few years ago, it's too bad everything else isn't nice. I'm also not a huge fan of the layout, instead of having all of the natures market in one place, they have a small section and then random natural and organic options throughout the store. If they had an app that organized your list by store by aisle, I wouldn't complain. Overall- come here if the location is convenient and you need to pickup a few things, but don't rely on getting your produce here.

Customer Service is key. This store does not have the number one ingredient for success, which is just that. Example 1: When at the deli, the ladies working behind the counter ALWAYS over serve the amount of deli meat requested. If we ask for 1/2 lb of turkey, we get 2/3 to 3/4 lb of turkey. They try to be sneaky and see if you don't figure out what they just did. I tell them I wanted a 1/2 lb (0.50) of turkey and they look at me all dazed and confused, almost throwing a quasi-hissy fit. Example 2: The checkout lines are always long and no other registers are ever open. No express lanes either. Management looks at the line and walks away. The other employees stand around the EZ Checkout area and look at the line. People have places to go and can't be standing waiting in a line all day long, especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings when most people go grocery shopping. Please fix your customer service and enhance your product to your customers.

On the plus side, It's close and has a fairly good selection of products. Unfortunately, the produce department is far behind the competition. For serious shopping we usually hit Wegmans because it has decent produce and it looks brighter and cleaner. It may cost a little more but I'm willing to pay more for quality
