Helpful staff when I was dropping off some donations.

The prices are getting ridiculous. They had the audacity to sell an empty cardboard recipe box for $11. I’ve seen things being sold for higher than retail price.

This morning stopped @ the New Paltz store & left a sizable donation.. WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH MILTON & JONATHAN.. BOTH very positive employees & a pleasure to speak to, do business with. In the past have dealt with the balder guy several times & he always seemed to be angry for some apparent reason... HOPEFULLY, he realizes that people were there to donate/ not argue with him in anyway.. Please commend these fellows for being positive and great employees! THANK YOU!

A common refrain, repeated: Just when is this place open? I’ve followed the posted hours on this site only to show up and find them not opened or already closed. If there’s a better alternative nearby for donations (not just clothing) I’m all ears.

This place has the most incompetent, indifferent workers I’ve ever met while trying to make a donation.
Yesterday I called the Salvation Army’s 800 number to get connected to this site because no one answered the phone.
I was connected to a call center in Pa. The woman I spoke with told me the New Paltz location accepted donations until 5pm. I arrived at 4:40 and this man who operated the center told me donations were only accepted until 4pm. I explained that I drove 40 minutes because there was a lot of traffic, and was given the hours for donations from a call center, but he wouldn’t budge. He said if he helped me he’d have to help everyone who came late and that I could return the next day.
There were no other cars in sight. I asked that he call the 800 number to verify what I was told. He said that no information about hours was supposed to be given out. So I wasted over an hour because of that jerk.
I went back today, and he took the day off and there was no way to drop off my load.
The horrible people who work there told me to come back another day.
So now wasted over two hours and am headed to a different location.
Those workers are an abomination.
Avoid this place like the plague.

For a charity shop the prices are way too high. Some of the dresses are priced the same price they would be new in the store. I don’t understand how you can price things so high when the point of the shop is to provide affordable options for people who struggle to make ends meet. Visiting this store was a waste of time

Dropped off a pair of shoes and a new Rocketbook (an electronic notebook). Apparently they don’t take electronics, which is fine, but the man accepting donations was extremely rude and off-putting in telling us.There are so many other places to make donations in the area, so spare yourself the trip here. I’m not looking for stellar customer service but it a brief thank you would’ve been nice. I’m not trying to pawn off my garbage and by the looks of the other reviews, I’m not the only one who has had issues with attitude for drop offs.

Tried to drop off donations…man was very rude and wouldn’t take anything. Was bags of clothes (good stuff…I throw away anything that is stained or ripped). Boxes of books, etc. “I can’t take this stuff” he said. Will never bring anything else to this location.

I have been donating to the Salvation Army in New Paltz for over 26 years and when I made my donation yesterday I was never so insulted by the attendant in charge of taking the donations at the drop off location. As I arrived with 5 bags of clothing and a set of luggage I was "greeted" by a tall bald man as if HE was doing me the favor for accepting the donations. Not friendly and demanding in a snotty tone what I had in the bags as if I was trying to get away with something instead of just asking me. He was rude and short with me. The questions about my donations were abrupt and with an attitude. I indicated to him that most of the donations were woman's and men's clothing and he grabbed a bag and said "So what is this then?." I informed him it was a shoe, in fact many pairs of woman's shoes. When he looked at the luggage there was a silver piece of tape on the suitcase and she responds in the same snotty way" What is the tape for?" I informed him that it was so we could identify our luggage on the carousel at the airport. The last bag has some throw pillows in it and you would think I was trying to smuggle contraband through the Salvation Army the way he yelled, "We don't take pillows of any kind" I said "Ok, but why the freaking attitude?" He then responded, "You know, I don't HAVE to take any of this" What is wrong w/ this person? Well, I WILL be donating my extra clothing and housewares to other charities in New Paltz from now on. Not once was there a "Thank you for your donation" but only like he was doing me a favor of allowing me to drop off over 2 thousand dollars worth of clothing for the organization. Sad day for New Paltz and the Salvation Army! .
