Terrible experience! The manager that I dont know the name, a woman, cancelled and started screaming with a client in front of us… after it I booked my reservation for 1 day, she told us to wait because other clients more more days have priority. After 1 hour waiting, she just didnt comeback to the room. I traveled to nyc I wasted more than 3 hours at alamo for nothing! Hire more quality people!!

My credit card has been charged twice for the same unsatisfactory Alamo rental experienceOn Saturday 18 November 2023 I went to Alamo office 44th street New York city to collect the car I already booked online. I was offered an upgrade but I declined. I accepted the Fuel Service option assuming the fuel tank was full.I got a Hyundai Santa Fe with only 25% full tank.I returned the car on Sunday 19 November 2023 and received the invoice for 182.43 USD on 20 November which was deducted from my credit card.I noticed that I have been charged for Fuel Service option despite having to fill the tank and pay 48.03 USD.Then I noticed that my credit card has been charged again for the same rental amount 182.43 USD.I sent an e-mail to Alamo to inquire but I did not receive any response.I used to rent cars in USA from another rental company but Alamo 44th street New York city was the nearest to my hotel. I did not expect that it would cause me so much headache!!!

Experience bordering on the incredible. They made a mistake by reversing my order with a previous customer as it had the same name. I swiped the card to pay, after the operator noticed the mistake, she redid the procedure, but having exceeded the limit (I had to wait 24 hours) they could no longer give me the car. They didn't accept their mistake, in fact they arrogantly told me that the problem was my card. Furthermore, the operator knew my language but still continued to speak in English. The worst service I have ever seen from a car rental company.I strongly advise against it. Instead, go to JFK airport to rent a car

Worst service I have ever experienced from a car rental company. The staff were completely rude and not at all willing to help you. The car was o.k., but nothing special.

Huge shout out to manager Zhanice and her receptionist Shelly! Incredibly patient, kind, and preserving despite the incoming weather cancelling many flights for those coming out of the New York City area. The storms killed most flights until Tuesday, and it was Sunday for my family and I. For some reason, our reservation at Alamo hadn't gone through when we arrived at the building (probably due to booking it via a third party and the extremely rapid stream of people grabbing rentals). There were no other cars left on account of those unexpected circumstances - at least initially, and within our range. We were feeling the pressure, we needed to get home that day. Instead of immediately turning us away, Zhanice called a nearby Enterprise and secured a vehicle in our name that would have been ready in a couple hours. And while we were already starting to resign ourselves to waiting, she was thoroughly scouting her inventory, taking the time out for us and another family, before uncovering a few more vehicles that had been previously partially obscured atop a lift. We were able to get hooked up with a roomy SUV at a nice discount, and are now on our way home without any worry! We want to thank Zhanice for going the extra mile despite the stressful circumstances, you rock and we sincerely appreciate your efforts!!

It was fine. I rented through Costco for a large SUV for a noon pickup. We were running late and I called ahead to see if we could pick up the car later - they said no worries, anytime before closing. I said I'd probably arrive around 3 PM. I also inquire if additional drivers need to be present on pickup, and they said yes because they have to sign some paperwork. I show up at 3 PM. Location is central near Times Square. Just take the elevator up. We sign some paperwork - easy peasy. Then we waited 30-45 min for the car to be ready because apparently the original car reserved for noon was driven out already and they didn't prepare the next car. I also find out that I didn't need to be there in person because spouses are automatically added. So...logistically I could have been at the hotel packing the bags and saved some time.... The car was a Dodge Grand Caravan. There was no toll tag - I was told you just used the license plate. Because of this we had to go through different toll gates to pay with cash at some of the lanes in New England where they did not do pay by license plate. To my dismay, there was no AirPlay nor Bluetooth capabilities. The car was freshly washed but a bit spotty on the cleaning. The fuel economy was great - no mechanical issues. Car was at 7/8 gas, which is always a little irritating as it's hard to return it at same non-full level or be charged. We returned the car to a different location with no issue. The experience was not terrible. The wait to pick up the car sucked, and didn't leave me impressed with the cleanliness. The car could have been cleaner, and the technology left some to be desired. But the car drove fine.

Does anyone have an actual phone number for this location? The phone number I'm calling goes to an automated service and customer service reps who can't answer my questions.

This place is the most unprofessional and ghetto Alamo that I have been to ever!! I have rented vehicles from Alamo for years and never experience the bad business practices I have here. Junior the manager has the business ethics of a deranged lunatic.

Always liked Alamo. They make things very easy and you come take the car and leave in less than 15 minutes. Sometimes you will have to wait for your car, but usually it is there ready.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I had a rental scheduled from 3pm Saturday to 3pm Sunday. I arrived at this Alamo location at 3:05pm Saturday, and I was told by parking lot employees below the office that Alamo was closed. I thought, how is this possible? Their website says they're open until 4 and I have a reservation! I called their 1-800 number. I member of their customer service attempted to contact this office and was unsuccessful. Ultimately, I was told they "closed early." This was horrifying to me! I was depending on Alamo's service to get to my destination on time. I was told I could go to their uptown office and pick up a car, but I would have to return the car by 8am the next morning. Of course, this was not possible. I needed the car for as long as I scheduled it for. I ended up having to pay over 3 times the price I was set to pay to get a last minute car elsewhere. I reached out to customer service weeks ago, giving Alamo the chance to redeem themselves, but I have heard NOTHING. It is jarring to me that a business can "close early" without any consideration to reservations. I am an easy going person, I would've accepted a phone call with a resolution, I understand an emergency may have arisen. DO NOT rent with Alamo. They created a headache situation for me for a hefty price.

I had a STELLAR experience with this rental location. It was (based on my recollection) my first time renting from Alamo.1) PRICE: I went with them because their SUV rates were the best I could find for a multi-day cross-country move from NYC > LA between Christmas and New Year's Day.2) CUSTOMER SERVICE: I went into the location on Christmas Eve expecting a long line--especially because we're living in Covid times--but was able to zip up to the desk immediately and was warmly greeted by two lovely people. We started talking about my move to LA and they took care of me to ensure I had a comfortable cross-country trip. I had a few questions about some minor scratches on my rental and the attendant educated me on what to look for vs not and quickly showed me some literature on NY guidelines, which was a great learning experience for me!3) RENTAL CAR: The car was in great shape and very clean.4) DROP OFF: Was very quick and easy.I would absolutely with Alamo again for my next rental!

Wish I could give them 0 star. We reserved a car 3 weeks in advance, but when we went there to pick up. They told us no car available. Can’t believe this. Horrible service! Do avoid Alamo!!!!! I have never had this issue with other rentals.
