“Disagree with the poor reviews. The women here are friendly, smiling and nice. The fact that tape isn't free or shipping rates are high, are by no means a reflection of these hard workers. I have a lot of time and respect for them. One time the clerk even went out of her way bc I mailed the wrong item and she had to fetch it for me after the fact. The facility is indeed old and shabby, but the workers are cheerful if you understand them.”

“I had a positive experience today at the Sunnyside. It was quite busy, but the staff handled everything efficiently and kept the line moving. The person at the counter helped me quickly with my mailing (including choosing the right envelope and service), which I really appreciated.

What stood out was how they also took the time to answer quick questions from others not in line while assisting customers — not easy in a crowded setting. Overall, a smooth and positive experience despite the volume of people. Thanks to the team for keeping things moving and being helpful.

Also, places like post offices don’t always get the recognition they deserve. It takes effort from both the staff and the public to keep things running smoothly. If you’ve had a good experience, it’s worth taking a moment to acknowledge it.”

“The most beautiful and clean post office I have ever stepped foot inside. Normally when I go to the post office, the workers are rude and nasty. However, my experience at this particular Post office was pleasant. I was able to apply for a passport within 15-20 mins.”

“I have to say, of all the visits to USPS I can recall in recent memory, my quick little visit this afternoon was literally the best I have ever experienced. Despite my little brain fart at the self serve kiosk, Irene greeted me with a warm smile and helped me send out my letter efficiently and with so much kindness and patience. Literally so grateful to her, and I felt compelled to tell her that the reviews you see of this place at first glance are WILDLY inaccurate. And it's not just her - I did notice her colleague behind the counter, whose name I wish I caught, give the same level of humanity to everyone he served. I didn't walk out of there just getting something done and off my plate, I walked out of there having so much more faith in humanity. If I ever need to ship something out via USPS, best believe I'll be coming here from now on.”

“Art Deco Master piece as it transitioned from earlier industrial aesthetics.

constructed in 1929 primarily with buff-toned brick and limestone accents.

The building was designed by the prominent architectural firm Buchman and Kahn.

It was originally built to house the U.S. Appraisers' Stores, where imported goods were inspected and valued for customs duties.”

“They’re direct but get the job done. NOTE: it’s posted that they open at 10am but they merely take that as a suggestion. They open the doors between 1015 and 1030.”

“I’ve been able to take advantage of this small USPS location by following the limited hours posted at the front door. The location is pretty convenient as USPS is located inside the Port Authority (across from the NJT ticket counters).”

“I have a disability Wyche requires me to be in a mobility scooter. This post office is accessible because they have installed a Lyft to bring me to the ground floor. The team there is very kind and professional and always go out of their way to get my packages processed. Let’s be grateful to our federal workers who go out on a limb.”

“Malcolm and the other supervisor (did not get her name) are very helpful and kind to deal with. I had an issue with a package that unfortunately they weren't able to resolve but they stayed late and did everything they could to help me, and provided good information for me to follow up another day. Two very good employees.”

“I like to commemorate the best Post Office Lady at the 6 Doyers St. NY location. I had left my bank card at her work station window and she diligently held on to it knowing I was going to have a ah-ha moment and return. All the employees are wonderful there and has a big fan base from the Chinese Community but this lady stood out above and beyond for her daily customers. I don't know your name but thank you so much cuz you made my day. A true American that truly looks out for her community. And I am grateful I got to meet you today. I am a fan of your location now.”

“I love this place. The workers are always professional about the services they provide. There are a lot of new young people that work there now and like most young people they don't smile much. I just there to get my mail, mail my packages or get stamps and get out, not make a friend.”

“I went for my passport appointment yesterday and Stewart was terrific. He explained everything very clearly and in a helpful way. He took a great photo of me even though I am not photogenic at all. The other staff seemed pleasant and the office is very clean and roomy. They have a great selection of cards and little gift-related accessories in case you need them. 5 star experience!”

“I have been a customer since 2013! The staff are very professional and they value you as a person not just as a customer. There has been changes in staff throughout the years, but I've never had any type of problems at all with any of them! Very happy to patronize here!”

“I recently searched for the nearest USPS location and came across the branch at 580 5th Avenue. At first glance, it was a bit confusing to find the post office is not at street level but located on the 4th floor inside an office building. Because of this setup, visitors must check in at the front desk, present an ID, and receive a temporary pass before heading up via the elevators. It’s certainly an unusual process for something as simple as mailing a letter or buying a stamp.
Once upstairs, the USPS office itself is small but fully functional, offering the complete range of postal services you would expect from any standard branch. Despite the unconventional location, the service was efficient, and the staff members were professional, courteous, and quick to assist.
While the access procedure may feel inconvenient, especially for customers in a hurry, the quality of service once inside helps offset the extra steps. Overall, it’s a reliable USPS location with friendly staff, though the building-security process makes it a bit less straightforward than typical post offices.”
