Came here for dinner was seated almost immediately. We had a few drinks (nothing blew us away) and got the chicken parm entree. The dish was served in a skillet and was pretty tasty! The only thing we wished was that the pasta had sauce on it as well (it was only covering the chicken). The tables were pretty spaced out which was nice and we sat on the end so we were able to sit next to each other rather than across which was nice. It’s a little pricey for what it is, but none the less, a pleasant experience given the circumstances (being in a pandemic). Our server was also friendly.

We used to love going to this place pre-pandemic. After being closed for months we were glad they reopened. While the food is decent, the portions seem smaller while the prices are the same.....worst thing, the wait staff padded the bill on us twice. Not going back anytime soon.

Eh... is the entire experience. The food is ok but not amazing and definitely read the menu carefully because you might be surprised

I noticed someone else said they padded the bill (charged a higher price than printed on the menu). That happened to us too. Food wasn't bad but that's a bad mistake to make.

My husband and I have always wanted to try this place, pre quarantine. We were so excited to hear of it re-opening for delivery/takeout so we could add another restaurant to our queue of delivery options. Must say, it was very quick and very delicious. At first we were hesitant that the food came within 25 minutes and we live 15 blocks and an avenue away, but, it did not seem like the food was carelessly put together (guess they are just that fast!). We ordered a chopped salad and caesar salad to start. My husband is a caesar dressing snob, and said it was one of the best caesar dressings he has had! My chopped salad was simple, but somehow, very yummy. We split the branzino and it was very fresh and nicely seared. The one let down was the french fries we got on the side. They weren't crispy or anything "special" (if fries can really be considered special anyway). This could have been because they are delivered and were slight soggy. Definitely a good restaurant to have back! Thank you, Writing Room!

The Writing Room is a wonderful, cozy UES spot, casual as well as for fine dining. It is inviting, full of fun, provides great service and is dedicated to comfort food. Great addition to our neighborhood and community. Always happy to be part of this wonderful place.

This place is such an UES staple. If you haven’t been here you must go, they have the nest cheese plate in town, delicious cocktails, they’re fried chicken is to die for... really anything you get you’ll be happy with! You’ll need a res tho!

Overall a very solid spot with plenty of delicious cocktails plus food options. Picked this spot during Restaurant Week but it turns out Sundays were not included. Located in a trendy part of the UES, there are plenty of delicious restaurants in the surrounding area so please read this review bearing this in mind. 3 stars here for their inconsistency of dishes. We ordered the chicken parmigiana dish (mixed with pasta & marinara sauce) but most of the dish was taken up by cold pasta. But then turning around and ordering the mussels: delicious. Very well seasoned in a bowl of soup perfect for scarpetta (italian term used for dipping bread in sauce). Our cocktails were good but not amazing. Their side dishes were killer (especially the mac 'n cheese) yet their service was only average - being checked on by our waitress only once. Ultimately, a decent spot for plenty of cocktail / food options in the American-style cuisine arena, but don't expect fireworks when sitting down for a meal here.
