They are doing some really sketchy business here. I placed an order online for a Fujifilm camera and a lens because it showed that it was being disconnected online. The next day someone called me to confirm my order and ask if you I’m fine with the international version because apparently all the cameras they sell online is the international version where they don’t have wifi connection or firmware update (none of this was indicated on the website). I obviously was not fine with that. The person then tried to aggressively up sale sale me the US version of the camera which was $200 more than normal retail price and the lens was $100 more than retail price. A side note: the person on the phone must have been a car salesman cause he was really good at putting you on spot to pressure you to make a decision. Anyways, I did not fall for their scams and I told him to cancel the order and place an order with B&H which was much better and less sketchy. BE CAREFUL!!

Superb customer service from beginning to end. I even called and spoke to customer service and was happy to actually speak with someone in the U.S.I received my camera in great shape and works perfectly. They even went out of their way to call me a few days later to check and make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. I would not hesitate to purchase again from this company.

I have ordered from Willoughby's before and have had great experiences. Their staff is knowledgable about their products and they go the extra mile to help me make the right decision before purchasing any of their products. They have always been paient and kind when dealing with them.

I ordered a couple of cameras online. I received a call within minutes of my order telling me had ordered foreign model of the cameras and making sure that’s what I wanted. That actually was not what I wanted so that really helped out they got the right ones on there. Got the batteries I needed it was a great experience.

Considering my experience, you can decide for yourself whether you are willing to risk doing business with Willoughbys Camera Emporium (WCE). WCE advertised on-line a new import model of the SONY DCS-RX100M6. They did not advertise the US model. In September 2023, I called and asked what "import" meant. I was told it was the same camera, but without a warranty. I ordered it. The next day, WCE called me and said that the import model was not the same software, that its screen interface was in Chinese, but they would sell me a new RX100M6 (not on their website) for $200 more. I changed my order to the US model and paid $200 more. The RX100M6 arrived in a plastic bag (inside a shipping box), but NOT in the manufacturer's box. It seems to work properly. After 6 days I called and said this was not a new camera. WCE insisted (not) that they had told me it was a "floor model", not a new camera. I requested to return it. With some hostility, WCE said they would send me a Return Authorization. The RA never arrived. After 7 more days, I again requested an RA in writing. WCE called me and said they would take the return but would I prefer a $100 refund (presumably acknowledging that the camera was not new). At this point, having had 5 less than satisfactory calls with WCE, I panicked and thought they might never refund me the cost of the camera if I shipped it back, so I accepted the $100. Now, looking at the SONY website, I have discovered that WCE is not even an authorized retailer of SONY cameras. SONY's warranty states SONY doesn't warrant cameras sold by unauthorized retailers. In short, I was sold, as new, a not "new-in-the-box" camera by a company that hid the fact, didn't want to accept a return, and, all along was selling a camera without warranty because they are not an authorized retailer. You'll probably want to buy somewhere else.

It serves no purpose to re-write what's already been written about Willoughby's Camera, so I'll be brief and offer keen advice to buyers. Oh!, and by the way, the 5-star rating is just because that's the only kind Yelp will show up-front...Let's see if this one is given up-front priority... And here is advice from hundreds of others like me:Willoughby's Sales Staff are...- Scammers- Con artists- and Whiney asses when you try to get your money back that they stole from under your nose...and they won't let you get it back!Spare yourselves the headache and just BUY your item at a DIFFERENT online store, because they're making millions dishonestly off you/us all. If everyone who's been scammed threw a brick at their storefront, Willoughby's could build an actual brick wall to replace all of it's broken glass windows.

I wished I would have read these reviews before purchasing a Nikon camera from Willoughby in August 2023. I got bait and switched from a cheaper export advertised to the model that would work for me. Spoke with Malcolm Willoughby regarding this issue and was promised by him to refund $200 if I completed the purchase after the switch. Malcolm never refunded my $200 after calling three more times regarding this issue. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM AND CERTAINLY DO NOT TRUST WHAT THEY SAY OVER THE PHONE.

This store is basically a front for bait and switch scams. I ordered a Fujifilm camera from Willoughby'swilloughbys.com/FUJIFILM…and then got an email saying to call them, "They need more information". When I called, they told me if I wanted the "domestic" US model, it would cost $300 more. Said the Japanese "import" model used only the Japanese language and had no Bluetooth/WiFi. A real j*** on the phone to boot. There was NO mention of that on the website. I cancelled the order. Real schmucks. Hard pass on Willoughby's in the future. ZERO STARS

I ordered a lens from their website, and then got a call the next day saying the one I picked was the import version and would not work with my camera. If I wanted the domestic version, it would cost me over $200 more. There is only one version of the lens listed on their website. It has the manufacturer's description, and mentions auto focus, except the rep said if I received the imported lens, the auto focus would not work and I'd have to send it overseas to calibrate it. Looks like they pull this scam often. Even the 5 star reviews mention this, "They are so nice, they called to let me know I ordered the wrong version!". For anyone this happened to, please file a complaint with NYC Consumer and Worker Protection.

Ordered a $600 lens, then the order was pending for 3 days. they called me twice but I didn’t know who it was so (luckily) didn’t pick up.I finally saw all the bad reviews and got worried so went in person to the NYC store to close the order, only to be told they have no connection to the only on part of the business. ? how convenient.Had to wait til the weekend ended to call them, and of course they try to do a bait and switch. Luckily they hadn’t charged my card yet (though I kept the balance low to be safe).I said I just wanted to cancel and the representative said that was fine and tried to get me off the phone before I said “you guys shouldn’t do this bait and switch thing.” He said “We don’t do that. Have a nice day.” and hung up. SO innocent.

Horrible customer service. Specifically, Jimmy from the processing department was unnecessarily nasty and rude while answering questions I had about my order. Preferred to cancel my order than give this business any more of my money. Now reading other reviews I’m noticing this whole ordering a European model is a trick they must use to get you to pay more, when the canon website itself has the item listed a similar price. Super shady, would not recommend.

This business is a scam. It's a bait and switch. If you order something, they call you they tell you it's an import model, and then they talk you into spending a lot of money more to get the American model. Then you realize when you received your item that you did not get the American model. I called Nikon and this camera is not able to have a warranty, it cannot be updated with firmware and software, and it can never be serviced. I called for a refund on my purchase. They said they would be glad to give me a refund if I give them $526, they said they would not accept the camera and items unless that is paid first. It's a scam stay away I'm trying to get a refund.

Zero FKn stars. How is this a real business???!... "Bought an A7C, nothing happens.. call them 80 times no pick up.. literally had to call and cancel my CC cus the charge was high enough. Sometimes if the price looks too good to be true, it's because it is.. Really wish I looked on Yelp before the order..
