I came at a very busy time on the weekend. It is a small space but they make the seating work. There is a good variety of things to choose on the menu and nothing seemed like it would be bad. Getting the Philly Omelette was a great choice in my opinion. The serving sizes were great and filling. They even have a good selection of coffee. The service was great too It's just a bit pricier than what I expected for the type of food and taste.

It's a classic diner. The number of menu selections are impressive with a whole page devoted to variations on Eggs Benedict. Good quality and reasonable prices.

My boyfriend brought me here for the first time. Not only was the atmosphere inviting and nostalgic, so we're the staff. The food was amazing, completely affordable, and quick. The banana milkshake was to DIE for. Our servers name was Summer. She was so pleasant and friendly. I highly recommend coming here. My new favorite breakfast place. We will definitely be back. I'm from out of town (Canada), but this will be my special place in Rochester N.Y.

Highland Diner is one of my absolute favorite breakfast spots. They have delicious food and their service is so quick but always wonderful. If I'm in a savory mood I go for the breakfast panini and if I'm in a sweet mood, the cannoli pancakes are phenomenal. They have great prices and availability he atmosphere is overall always awesome. Definitely a gem in Rochester and a place I recommend everyone try out!

Had dinner here with some friends, loved it. We were able to stay and eat and chat for hours and weren't rushed at all. We started with the red lentil appetizer and french fries- definitely would recommend the red lentil appetizer; its sweet, creamy and delicious. you will want to order more than one of these! the french fries were fine...hard to mess up.

My boyfriend and I have made this our weekend breakfast place. It's close to us, the service is quick, the coffee is good, but it's very crowded. We love the old train car kind of vibe, and you can tell why it's so popular. I usually get the country skillet or an omelette, whatever I get is always fantastic. The parking lot is definitely too small for the crowds they bring in, but we are usually lucky enough to get a spot. Love it, will absolutely go again.

Busy place, great service and food. Waitress was excellent. Menu is huge. The vibe of this place is great.

I usually love this place but this time not at all. It seems the quality of food has hit an all time low. I ordered an omelet, which was overcooked, lacked any flavor. Toast wasn't even buttered, I actually used my own packets of butter in my toast. Home fries, lacked flavor and were burned, not crispy. I left most of my meal. I don't know what's going on that kitchen but the chefs are clueless. My son has a milk shake that cost almost $8, wow. Nope not going back.

We have been going to the highland diner for many years. Always been a special treat. Food of high quality. I think we hit a bad day or a Bad cook/ waitress.? I ordered hamburger. A little pink inside .The hamburger was quite large which Is why I love the Highland diner. They give you great portions. My hamburger was raw and bloody. She brought it back. When she returned with the same hamburger it was basically the same. Still bloody. I told her it was too bloody. She brought it back to the kitchen again. When she returned she brought back a hamburger a size of my palm 3” round. I said nothing for I knew the cook was upset and I didn’t want to chance what he might do next ( not saying highland diner would do anything but I heard stories about other places). The waitress said nothing. It wasn’t the place was busy. We were the only ones in there I will never go back in there again after going there for 20 plus years. I was in the hospital(around the corner) all night and just wanted to treat myself. She didnt take it off the bill. I didn’t eat anything .Wasn’t feeling well enough to say anything

Amazing place, so pretty to look at from the inside and outside. They have so so many food choices in such a little kitchen. Consider ordering the Nantucket eggs benedict, amazing combination. If you are stopping for a weekend in Rochester, make this one of your breakfast stops.

My favorite breakfast is the seafood omelet. It is stuffed full of crab meat and shrimp and covered in hollandaise sauce. Today I had it with grits, but I usually have the fruit bowl. Both are good. The Nuttella waffles with strawberries and whipped cream are good too. This is my favorite place for breakfast in Rochester.

I was raised in the south, born in western NY. I love breakfast. Highland Diner did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and their grits were on point which is hard to do especially I find up north. Sausage gravy was delicious and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their pancakes. For being super busy, they were friendly, got our order in a timely fashion, and everything tasted as it should. Highly recommend. #hempstressoftheroc approved.

My favorite diner in Rochester NY! You won't be disappointed! If you're here Monday-Thursday and get dinner, you'll get a free movie ticket at the Cenima theater across the street, it's a great date idea! You don't have to go too far to see a movie after dinner plus it's a free movie Wish if the ventilation improves since windows don't open here.

This is the second or third visit I've made to this diner. First, let me say. I love diners. And I especially like the vintage vibe with the counter seats and all that. I've only ever gotten excellent service and food. It's fast and friendly. Also... and this is a critical note to myself for next time. There are sprinkles in the cupcake shake. So. HOLD THE SPRINKLES!

Great food and service. A favorite place when we are in Rochester.

There were about 7 parties waiting before us and we still got to sit down within 10 minutes. Our food took about 5 minutes to be out, which was surprisingly fast considering it was packed. I've waited at iHop longer when the place wasn't even half full. The food was AMAZING and so was the service. It's an old diner but that's the beauty of the place.

This is still the best diner in Rochester. Because it is an actual diner (not a building/restaurant calling itself a diner) the interior and atmosphere is fun. Even better the menu is great - full range from interesting "different" items to standard fare breakfast options, sandwiches and dinner meals. We had breakfast and the eggs were excellent and the French toast was to die for. The staff were amazingly efficient and very friendly. Our food seemed to arrive immediately after we ordered.

Stumbled onto this gem today. I will definitely be back there. Service and good are too notch. Fast and friendly. We had a shake, burger, fries, soup, and a wrap. Not one complaint about anything there.

Charming, retro, boxcar-shaped diner. Very good food. Service is fast and friendly. One of the few eateries left in the area offering classic milkshakes. Expect a line on weekends--breakfast is always busy, though the tables turn quickly. There are a few outdoor tables, in season. Note: the diner is located at a busy 5-way intersection, and the parking lot is small. So getting into--and out of--the parking lot might take awhile. But the food, service, and classic 1940s diner atmosphere are worth return visits.

Charming, clean, retro boxcar-shaped diner. Very good food. Service is fast and friendly--our waitress handled multiple orders (and a food allergy) with ease. Tasty soups, sandwiches, and breakfast fare. One of the few eateries left in the area that offers classic milk shakes. Expect to wait in line on weekends--breakfast is always busy, though the tables turn quickly. There are a few outdoor tables, in season.. . Note: The diner is located at one of those annoying 5-way intersections in a busy neighborhood. There are only few parking spots; you'll likely need to park on one of the side streets. Because of the traffic, getting into--and out of--the parking lot can take awhile. But the food, service, and classic '40s diner atmosphere are well worth return visits.

Highland Diner is always a great place to go, especially for comfort food! They have an extensive menu, great service, and the food is prepared quickly. Highly recommend!

I hadn't been here since I was a little girl but I'm so happy I stopped in to treat myself to brunch!! Friendly service, great prices, and the food is absolutely delicious!!!

A quaint little dinner. The food was very good. There were so many good options it took me a little longer to decide what I wanted. If your an eggs bennidict person this is the place for you. They have a good 25 options of eggs bennidict. They also have a good 25 options for omelets too. I would definitely go back to this place for breakfast.

Got there this morning just before noon and the place was hopping. We waited 25 minutes but there were four of us and it was Sunday so this wasn't unexpected. Once inside, we found the menu to be almost overwhelming with all the great options. After ordering, the food came quickly and we all loved our choices which included the sweet potato hash special, pumpkin walnut pancakes, challah French toast and salmon Benedict. Generous portions of tasty food at a reasonable price- what's not to love?

AMAZING breakfast. Great, friendly service with smiles! You will have to wait for a table, but they turn tables quickly. Food came out quick and delicious, very authentic diner food--but QUALITY. There is something for everyone, they even have multiple coffee flavors! Highly highly recommend 15/10

We stopped in for breakfast on our last day in town. I had the chicken verde omelet, and my wife had the raspberry French toast. Everything was fantastic. Mary was the lone server holding down the fort in the early morning, and she effortlessly glided throughout the diner taking orders, serving food, and refilling coffee. Will DEFINITELY be back!
