Very inappropriate questioned as to why I signed over my insurance check to my daughter. The women even went as far as to ask the sorted details as to why I was issued such a check. I would not recommend this bank to anyone unless of course you want to give your private life history to a Nosy bank teller.

I was a customer of this bank 25+ years. Have a credit line of $12,500 associated with my bank account. I was the payroll clerk of the school districts of Maine Endwell and Deposit in Broome County at Boces in Endicott. During covid I lost my job. If people aren't getting paid, you don't need to pay people to pay them. Just a few partial payments on the M&T credit card until I got a new job and they closed the credit line with a $11,000 balance on it, & jacked my interest up as high as legally possible. Have a 4 year old girl to house and feed. Destroyed me. All lines of credit I had with 0 balances fell like dominoes. My credit rating went from 750 to 550 and even to this day my credit reflects as near 300% usage. Only one left standing Sears, a retail credit card with a line of $5,000. A card I've had 21+ years. Sad I can depend on a citibank retail credit card more than my own bank. Can't believe their slogan is "understanding what's important." Gotta be a joke. My only real mistake is not looking for a personal loan to pay off M&T as of yet and make sure they don't get 2 cents of mine again..

I’m around 12 years late writing this review but I wanted to post it anyway because I despise m&t so much. I was 20 years old making $11/hr to support my wife and newborn son when m&t took my entire paycheck in overdraft fees. They charged me a $39 overdraft fee 10 different times. I asked them why my card didn’t get declined if I didn’t have the money or overdraft protection and they told me that it was to “save me the embarrassment of my card being declined”. I didn’t ask for that, nor is it their decision to make for me. They were unwilling to refund any of the charges back to me, not even one. M&t is the worst and most crooked bank of all time. Do not bank here

I went in to change my name and close an account, simple stuff. Jeri was AMAZING. Took me into her office right away and expertly changed the items I needed changing all while being friendly and kind. We need more people like her in the world ?. She deserve a raise and more time off ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

HAD an account, was till I could not deposit my ADP paycheck and get 1/8th of the value in cash because the paycheck was such a high value. This was the first paycheck and the direct deposit had already gone through. Essentially they wanted to hold my money for no reason, then they refused to let me withdraw the money I had deposited into my account before that! My account is closed. They must be so poorly funded they cannot afford to let people access their own money. Piss poor employees as well. Do not get an account here!!!

I bank at M & T in Vestal and I hope to always bank there. They are the most helpful and courteous people. They treat you like family. No matter how busy they are, there is someone who can help me and answer my questions. I am sorry that Robert W. had such a hard time. The world is not like it used to be and banks have to guard against stolen and/or forged checks. I am not sure about the fingerprinting, have never heard of that, but perhaps if she had asked for a manager they would have been able to help.

Another writers 5 star review prompted me to write this. Maybe all banks are doing this now and if so, i'll start depositing my money into my pillow case! I received a check from an out of state person and didn't have the time to run and cash it. Since there is an M&T bank 2 miles from my restaurant, I signed the back and sent it off with my wife. She said they asked her if she had an account and she said no but that it was one of their customers checks. They told her that I would have to come down and be fingerprinted in order to cash it! I used to have an account with them but I will NEVER do business with them again! Customer service doesn't seem to be important any more.
