There is just something about the smell of a boxing gym, the blood sweat and tears seeping out of the walls knowing the men inside suffered to reach their potential. Once upon a time when I couldn't defend myself I was a victim of bullying with my orange hair, freckles, and oily pale skin. My father when he wasn't watching baywatch, would put on old Tyson fights and the Rocky movies. He said Apollo creed is the best creation of everything you want in a champion (rest in paradise Carl weathers). After relocating to Long Island from Bayonne NJ, I found Kayo boxing gym in west Hempstead ny. Who I found was the fighting pride of Long Island Mr. Michael Corleone who has decades and decades of experience and within 2 seconds of talking to him you know this man ate punches for a living. The exact person you want in your corner going to battle, someone who has seen it all and taken it all, willing to fight and plod through fire taking 12 shots to deliver that 1. Classes are great usually ran by the dashing Mrs. Corleone and include all skill levels but I will tell you, you're going to sweat and burn the fat. Also options to compete and fight and I will say that is the nuts and bolts to this kayo operation. After 6 months of training I was entered into Bobby Campbell's Rise of A Hero fight card @Sons of Italy. Tickets were reasonably priced standing $85 , folding chair $120, or folding table for $1000 with 6 ppl minimum. Michael wrapped my hands and gave me the There is No Tomorrow speech from Rocky 3 because he saw I was shaking with nerves. I was very lucky my opponent was a lot younger, smaller, less skilled than me and I was able to get the knockout in the 1st round. Trained on and off for few years until injuries got the best of me. Michael is as fierce of a businessman as he is fighter so make sure your monthly dues are paid on time as I forgot it was recurring and I saw I was put into collections, I said I was sorry I forgot all about this and this can hurt my credit because I was buying a house and he told me to "pay my bills" which is the same tough love you get in the ring. One thing that is so cool is that Michael will still compete and fight along with his fighters on the show just like when he fought on the legends card against Bobby Campbell at mulcahys. Michael not fighting since the head kick ko to bloodaxe in 2014 he entered the ring to the sopranos woke up this morning song with the gladiator trunks strutting around the cage while Bobby didn't take this fight seriously as he entered with hangers and little beer gut. They traded punches as Bobby's loose midsection took Corleone's body blows meanwhile a cocky Michael walked into a right hand buckling his knees but made it to the final bell. His motor skills are a little off and it looks like he shouldn't Be operating any heavy machinery but can he fight. I've been to boxing gyms all over and this place has the family feel where everyone is a team. My goal was always to bring my son down and train just like his father but as of now he rather wear his mother's pumps and be referred to as JuJu T-Bone Tabone. Maybe kayo boxing is what he needs so Mr. & Mrs. Corleone you may be seeing Barney again soon Barney forever will sign on the dotted line for Kayo Boxing

Owner was rude and lacks social etiquette. Stopped by the gym, stayed for a bit to watch the happenings of class. Guess I got there too early because the kids class was going on. Spoke to the Owner. I had lots of questions, but guess I had too many because he became rude. Thought since I was asking all these questions, it was obvious that I didn't know boxing and that's why I was asking . My wife asked a few questions that was important to her for the fitness aspect, he spoke to her like she was an idiot. Was very disrespectful. Cut us off and started yelling at one of his Staff (Coaches) in front of us and the kids in the class. My wife and I was shocked how he spoke to his staff. If this is the way he runs his business, I don't think this is the place I want give my hard working money and business to. Originally came to this gym because of the good reviews. Guess owner is paying his clients for the good reviews.

I love training with Michael! I came across this gym on Yelp, and am so glad I did! He is so passionate about boxing and it shows. He is patient but yet determined that you perfect the skill. I moved from the west coast and have gone through so many trainers, you will not regret training here! He knows his stuff!

I joined Kayo Boxing about 2 years and the gym has become a big part of my life. It has been a great investment in myself and coach Mike and the trainers are always pushing you to get you to the next level. The experience has been like no other and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

I was a member at kayo for four years. I only left bc I moved too far away. Kayo was family to me. I never would have thought that a boxing gym would bring me such joy and peace to my life. I made so many friends there, friends who got me through some of the hardest times of my life. The kayo boxing staff is like no other. They WANT you to succeed and care about you as a person. We have even celebrated birthdays there! The workout is fantastic and also a lot of fun. Coach jay and coach domenicc coach gianluca are all awesome people with a lot of skill and talent. Paula, the receptionist- love her!! Coach mike, the owner, has been in my life for over 20 years for a reason. He is truly a good person who would do anything for anyone. He’s tough so don’t try to slack tho!! Lol

Mr. Corleone and Miss Jackie are fantastic people! Beyond empowering people in their community they opened their home for me when I was in need! That is why this gym thrives. Keep it up!!!

Started at Kayo about 7 months ago. I was very out of shape and my self-esteem was very low. Now I have more energy, confidence, and discipline. I never thought I could enjoy working out as much as I enjoy classes at Kayo. Coach Michael gets to know his students and constantly pushes them to do the best they can. Great value for the level of instruction, but the feeling after one of those morning workouts is priceless!

Kayo Boxing is a great gym to learn in. Michael Corleone is a great coach, a World Champion and knows how to teach. His son Dominic has followed in his footsteps and also is a great instructor. There are other trainers there that are very very good also. I would recommend this gym to any one.

This place makes you feel like family. If the opportunity for Fitsmart comes up again, do yourself a favor and JUMP on it! You will NOT find a better deal. I had a traditional membership at a gym and I found it kind of boring. I decided to try something different to improve my physique and stamina. This is THE place to go. You will walk out with a drenched shirt feeling accomplished and will see the results in no time. Michael, Jay, Dom, Luigi, and Gian will give you personalized attention to motivate you to push harder than you ever would on your own. Just know being called a knucklehead is a term of endearment. These guys are passionate about getting people into shape and will work your entire body hard by the time you’re done with one class. I cannot recommend them more!

Awesome place to workout! Whether you’re looking to get in shape or compete, classes here are always great. The owner Mike is passionate about his coaching and is a great leader. It’s clear he wants everyone to succeed and will show you proper form over and over and over again until you get it right. All of the coaches are always willing to help out with technique and form during class, something lacking in most group fitness classes. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get into boxing or just get in a good workout!

In my sessions with Coach Mike, I’ve come to know him as informative and courteous, and always pushing his students to strive for better. Joining his classes and taking his one on one sessions has been one of the better decisions I’ve made for myself lately, and if anyone is looking for a good coach, a solid gym and a good environment, I would recommend Coach Mike and his staff at Kayo Boxing. Whether its for a fresh start, or gaining experience or even just to get active and workout, this is a gym that will definitely push you to accomplish your goals.
