Goodbye and good riddance. In the early 2000's I worked here. It was a magical place. At Christmas, the ground floor had a beautiful display of trees and decorations. Employees were happy to be there. Fast forward through time and the store became run down and the employees surly. Long lines, rude cashiers. Last week I went in to check out the "going out of business" sales. 3 cashiers for the entire floor, long lines, obnoxious customers knowing people are waiting but taking their sweet time to still shop while being rung up. I asked an employee can I pay anywhere, he said yes. So I went to the cosmetics section. Well the cashier there didn't appreciate that I wanted to pay for 2 shoes. She told me she was only taking customers that were buying things from that section, even though all the counters were empty. She went back to speaking Spanish with her two customers and taking her sweet time. No problem. I left the shoes on the counter and walked out. Saved me money. I have zero sympathy that they are now unemployed.

I just love Macy's! Their clothes - usually great sales, and THE CELLAR! Nice memories from when I was a kid. I usually shop here for gifts or bath robes! Their perfume department is really nice too, especially when they have little perks during the holidays. (My signature scent is WHITE TEA by Elizabeth Arden). Lastly, it's simply pretty and gives you a feel of a more special / better of the department stores.

Working asset Protection there was a nightmare..camera systems were old and out dated, the office was old, dirty and a mouse haven..the company pulled a fast one..when it came to fire watch, overnights, where night differential pay is included, they used loss prevention detectives to do it, thus saving money.. The team (security guards and detectives) never worked loss prevention before, very inexperienced. They had no experience in AP before, and couldn't understand that you need the 5 steps In order to take a case..the team lead Matt made up rules as he went...giving certain door guards favoritism, Lp mngrs didn't do much of anything, but work operations in the receiving area..overall I'm glad I left the company for a better situation..

Horrible experience there this week. Went to do a return of an item that I had bought online. The girl at the costumer service desk had her mask not covering her nose, saw another employee with no mask at all. There is no security or employees implementing mask rule and costumers walk around with the masks on their chin. Not an excuse but understanding since the AC in the store was off and everyone was dying of sweat and heat. I don't know what their management is going but I def won't visit this store again.

I was denied a return even after insisting it could be processed with the debit card I used. The sales associate continued to deny I would be able to and didn't even bother to attempt, almost out of personal spite or pure laziness. When I tried the online chat help, I was confirmed that this was the best method and the associate should not have denied me. I have nothing but awful experiences at this location and would highly implore corporate to either shut it down or do a complete sweep of the current staff.

Had a bad experience with the furniture sector. We bought a couch and our shipment got cancelled approximately 4x by now. We have to keep calling them because they keep trying to deliver the couch at times when we are not available. The staff has been less than helpful. We still don't have a couch and a month has elapsed. Save yourself the energy and buy furniture from elsewhere.

the macys backstage section on the first floor is really a closeout , bargain basement and discontinued stuff big discount type of section and its hard not to find something useful via clothing , footware , home goods , jewerly , etc. some apparel may be out of style or not hip but for the discounted prices you really cant complain . i found a eddie bauer knap sack , a pair of rockports that were ugly but cheap in cost and a bottle of shower gel that had a strong cucumbermelon scent. the lady cashier was super nice and let me know about belts and wallets that were insanely cheap and the deals were too good to say no . after 30 minutes i decided to stop or else i would never leave . final cost of 180 bucks and 5 large macy bags which i have to slepp back to my crib on foot. on your next visit to macys i recommend you hit the backstage section first as your wallet will thank you .

Furniture Only Review: this store has a surprisingly strong selection of furniture, especially if you are looking for a couch! If you go, I highly recommend working with Hubert. He was super nice, unpressuring, and assistive in helping me find the perfect couch! I will update after delivery!

My Mom eyed a Toaster Oven in the Macy's circular about a week ago and showed it to me. Little did she know, it gave me an idea to grab it for her Birthday. Quick Saturday morning visit and went straight down to the Home Dept. on the 1st floor to look for the brand she wanted. But while I was about to pay, got curious when I noticed a huge 'Macy's Backstage' sign feet away. Asked the Cashier and said it's Macy's Clearance section. Who doesn't love good things? I do! But I'm a sole believer and not afraid to say it- that if I see something on the cheap anywhere and it's funky, I personally add bits and pieces to tie the whole look together. Macy's Backstage mimics a store setup- with EVERYTHING on the same floor. There's the Women's section, Petites, Shoes, Bags, Makeup, Fragrances and Men's- with amazing prices. Grabbed a Colorful Rhinestone clutch for $19.99 (retail $76) including a funky Black/Marble one with a silver ring closure for $7.99- I couldn't leave behind. Plus a $12.99, Shimmery A-Line, below-the-knee Skirt. (I'm not sure about Return Policy or the fine print with it). Honestly, this is nice news because I'm all over it. I'm also a believer that when you least expect to find something, it'll show up in unexpected places. I don't mind coming here again and scoring my perfect outfit- especially at a bargain price.

Me and couple of my friends were looking around for items to purchase and we were laughing at a joke someone made and this man who I supposed worked there said that if we weren't purchasing something we had to leave. So we kept looking to see what to get. Then me and one of my friends went into the bra section and were looking for bras. Then my other friend that wants to be a girl asks us if he would look good in that bra and we said of course. Then the man who talked to us prior said we had to leave now. So as we were walking back upstairs to the Galleria the man said no exit this way which was to the outside. Mind you it was 29 degrees. He was discriminating against a transgender and Hispanics. We left but I needed to make people aware of those circumstances.

I entered from the Main and Court Street entrances and thought I was in Target. The budget "Backstage" collection was on full display, on overcrowded and closely clustered racks. The aggressive red and white Backstage signage, and colored arrows all over the floor only added to the effect. It was an odd way to present the Macy's brand. (Most Macy's have the section on upper floors.) It was only as I got further into the store that it began to resemble an upscale department store, with carefully thought out displays and open space. I headed to the second floor in search of the online pickup desk (I'd found some amazing deals online over the weekend). I finally reached a counter in the men's section, with large bright signs advertising online pickup. I waited for about 5 minutes behind another man waiting yo make a return before we were advised that online pickups were actually further into the department, by the Court and Martine entrance. Although this counter also had signage it was not as bold and bright as at the other desk. There were displays of Christmas cookies and candy to the side, some piled on the floors and not yet shelved. Inconsistent presentation aside, Macy's White Plains offers a thoroughly decent shopping experience. There's a good range of options and price points for everything from home to accessories and career wear. The salespeople are generally helpful and the store isn't crowded.

I am a Macy's Platinum card holder which is an indication of the time and commitment I have for the Macy's brand, from the very beginning when my Mom would take me shopping at Macy's in Queens. However, the worse store I have ever encountered is the White Plains store. Today, I ventured into the store hopeful to find what I was looking for and praying that I'd find customer care (which I only experience in the shoe department in this store) but that was not the case today. In the housewares department I could not find a cashier to check out and when I did it was in the Backroom with 12 people on line and 1 cashier, on at Saturday at 2pm! I work across the street from the Herald Square store and I must say that in every department they have mastered the art of customer service with a smile no less. I would hate to see my local Macy's close because most shoppers are shopping online. This lack of customer service is not a NEW issue for this location. Please hire people that actually want to serve others, its heartbreaking to continue to have the worse shopping experience in my favorite store!

This is my favorite place to go shopping with my mother. They have a vast selection of name brand fashion all at a reasonable price. My favorite department is men's. They have amazing and elegant sports jackets for a fraction of the price. I always look forward to the Macy's coupons I get in the mail. We end up saving around 25% when using a Macy's charge card. At the end of day, you can look like a high roller with less money just from shopping here. I recommend it.
