Citibank and Cardtronics Come To Agreement Over Several Large City ATMs

Citibank recently announced an agreement with Cardtronics, which is the largest ATM operator/owner in the world, to make more than 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs available to its customers in major cities - Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and New York City.

The bank's customers can access many ATMs free of charge at most Target, Costco or CVS stores. On top of that, they can visit surcharge-free ATMs at the majority of Walgreens and Duane Reade stores.

Will Howle is the head of Citi's U.S. Retail Banking, and he said the company wants to make it easy for its customers to address their banking needs. The company offers various products along with Citigold Client Centers and Smart Banking branches to boost the new digital capabilities and ATM network.

Howle said Citibank is dedicated to offering its customers a high level of convenience, service and value.

Bank customers can now access important banking services like checking account balances, cash withdrawals and fund transfers from linked accounts.

The new agreement between Cardtronics and Citibank offers surcharge-free access to many Citibank-branded ATMs in the retail locations listed below:

Walgreens in New York and Chicago (should be complete by spring)

Duane Reades Stores (New York City)

Target Stores in Washington, D.C. and New York

CVS stores in San Francisco, Miami and Los Angeles

Costco stores in Washington, D.C, San Francisco, New York, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles

The deal is the latest in a long line of strategic actions to ensure customers have a better banking experience, which includes Citi Priority and Citigold clients, new Citi Smart Banking branches and Citigold Client Centers. It also wants to boost its mobile banking capabilities - to offer Internet debit card activation and ATM/Debit Card PIN reset through a mobile responsive browser.
