Hartford County residents are no strangers to the Aldi brand, as there are two locations already in the county - Edgewood and Aberdeen. However, for folks in the Bel Air community, Aldi has opened a new store.
Eric Neubauer checked it out the Thursday it opened, and admitted up until that point, she didn't know much about the company. She said she was happy to see a clean store with low prices. Neubauer said she would definitely be shopping at Aldi.
She was one of several hundred residents who stood in line for the doors to open. The first 100 got a golden ticket that included Aldi gift cards in varying amounts. Store employees offered visitors samples of various Aldi-only food items.
Aldi Vice President of Frederick division Jeff Baehr, said company dignitaries were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which Susan Burdette, mayor of Bel Air, handled.
Churchville-resident Maria Miller and her husband Kenneth are no strangers to Aldi, shopping in the company's origin land of Germany where Maria is originally from.
Kenneth said they love the store and shop every Wednesday there.
Bel Air resident Carolyn Holbrook said she shops at the Edgewood store and she loves their prices.
While the checkout lines were a little longer than normal, many people were quite pleased with Aldi's new store.
Bel Air resident Stephen Hersl said he wanted to see the new store. He said the prices were good, organic food was good, and he would definitely be shopping at Aldi.
Heather Liptrap, also of Bel Air, said she shops at the other stores and was just ready for the new store to open. She said there is a lot of room and they have great prices. No other store can match their prices.
