The IKEA store in Fishers, Ind. is set to open Oct. 11. It will be located off Interstate 69's 116th Street exit, with a huge grand opening set to start at 9 a.m.
IKEA Store manager Holly Davidson said the construction progress on the building has been phenomenal and believe the rest of its milestones and interior construction can be completed by mid-October. She said the Swedish furniture store company is excited to give Central Indiana residents (and others) a new way to shop for their home.
People who love freebies and IKEA can start lining up Oct. 9. While there's been no announcement as to what giveaways the Fishers store will have, during the Columbus, Ohio grand opening 100 people went home with free chairs and the first 44 store customers were given a free couch.
The Fishers location will have the biggest solar rooftop to go along with its energy needs. It will have nearly 50-room settings, a supervised child play area, three model home interiors and a 325-seat restaurant that serves both American and Swedish dishes.
Along with the 500 construction jobs, the store will employ 250 people when it opens.
There are 400 IKEA stores in 49 countries with 44 of them in the U.S. IKEA has been voted as one of the 'Best Companies to Work For', with the company provided minimum wage increases themselves two times in two years.
