A new building at the site of the former Country Inn will be home to O'Reilly Auto Parts. It's currently under construction and should be opened within the next month.
Job Superintendent Tom Boice said the store should be stocked and ready for business in January. He said the store's construction took a little longer because the company had to first tear down the hotel.
Boice said Springfield Builders Inc., based in Springfield, MO dealt with the construction side of the business. O'Reilly has contracts with several companies to develop buildings, and they're just one of the representatives. He said they don't work exclusively for O'Reilly, but work for various companies like Dollar General, CVS pharmacies, medical clinics, etc.
Boice said after the hotel closed, there were a plethora of personal items left behind. He said employees had to get rid of them properly, but everything else pretty much went as well as expected.
O'Reilly started as a solitary auto parts store in 1957. It currently operates more than 4,700 locations in 45 states including Hawaii and Alaska.
