Orlando Children's Hospital and Publix Supermarkets Join Forces To Offer Retail Pharmacy Within Hospital Walls

Publix Supermarkets and Nemours Children's Health System have come together to improve and grow its Nemours Children's Hospital outpatient retail pharmacy center in Orlando.

Publix' recently opened pharmacy, which is inside the hospital, will provide dedicated outpatient convenience to children and their families, guests, visitors and health system employees.

Nemours Children's Hospital President Dana Nicholson Bledsoe said the hospital is always searching for things that will better the patient families' experience, and Publix' new retail pharmacy will ensure this happens. She said the collaboration would make life easier, especially with Publix' extended hours and more locations to get refills.

Publix Pharmacies VP of Pharmacy Operations Fred Ottolino said the company is committed to meet their customers' needs for health and wellness. Ottolino said being able to offer customer care for children who go to Nemours Children's Hospital ensures they can meet patients' immediate needs and establish a long-term relationship with them and their families after they go home.

The pharmacy will offer children and employees specialty medicine, refill medicines at any Publix Pharmacy, ensure certain medications can be attained free via the grocer such as antibiotics and deliver to patients' rooms.

Publix has four additional pharmacies in different Florida hospitals - Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Miami's Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Moffit McKinley Campus and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, both located in Tampa.

The company has roughly 187,500 employees at its 1,134 stores and operates in Alabama, Florida, George, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
