PetSmart Opens 18 New Stores in U.S. and Canada

PetSmart, Inc. recently announced that, as of May 1, 2017, 18 new stores across the U.S. and Canada have been opened. The popular pet store opened 70 new stores during 2016 and anticipates that number will be higher in 2017.

The expansion is part of the company's commitment to being the best and most convenient retailer of products and services for people with pets.

The new stores are located in the following areas:

Foley, Ala.

Auburn Calif.

Huntington Beach, Calif.

Roseville, Calif.

Hinesville, Ga.

Bourne, Mass.

Hadley, Mass.

Duluth, Minn.

Lakeville, Minn.

East Aurora, N.Y.

Reynoldsburg, Ohio

Tulsa, Okla.

Maple, Ontario

Mississauga, Ontario

North Augusta, S.C.

College Station, Texas

Spring, Texas

Burien, Wash.

In a statement, PetSmart said the new stores are taking advantage of the new trends occurring in the pet industry such as Dog Therapy Training. It also provides a one-of-a-kind in-store customer experience for people with pets. It also stated it was increasing its retail footprint to offer convenience such as scheduled and same-day at-home delivery and the purchase online, pickup in-store method.

PetSmart has over 1,500 stores throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada. It also has more than 200 in-store PetsHotel cat and dog boarding facilities.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the store began its "Buy a Bag" Give a Meal" program. For every cat or dog food bought in the stores and online through Dec. 31, the company will give a pet in need a meal. The company has a goal to provide 60 million meals - the company's largest initiative in its 30-year history in business.
