Winchester Residents To Get Zaxby's Restaurant

Zaxby's is expanding its operations to the Winchester area, with construction nearly complete and an opening set for spring 2017. Until then, Zaxby's fans will have to continue driving to Richmond, Roanoke, Lynchburg and Forest.

When the company celebrates its grand opening, it will give away a Deck of 52 Free Dealz - one free Zaxby's item per week for a year - to the store's first 100 guests.

Kevin Schweiker, Zaxby's first license in the D.C. area, said it made sense for the brand to expand into Virginia and the Winchester market. He said his family loves the brand - the product, family friendliness, company values and atmosphere. Schweiker said the Winchester community would welcome Zaxby's in for those very reasons.

The restaurant will be able to accommodate 72 people, which is in line for its fast-casual dining alternative to fast food. For those who've never been to Zaxby's, it a cross between fast food and the sit-down restaurants. Customers place their order and pick it up when the order is ready.

Winchester will see 50 new jobs with Zaxby's entrance.

Zaxby's, which began in the 1990s in Georgia, is well known for its chicken wings, fingers, sandwiches, milkshakes and salads. It has grown significantly in all directions since that time. Schweiker said the location is looking for more than 50 people in the Winchester area to employ. He said the company wants people who are passionate in customer service and love the idea of serving quality food to area residents.

People who are interested in a Zaxby's job need to go to and fill out an application.

The Winchester location will make it the 16th restaurant in Virginia. There are more than 800 Zaxby's throughout the U.S.
