Elk Mountain Motors has reminded me that integrity still thrives and it is just around the corner.
Rob Harmon showed his humanity from my first inquiring phone call about what I suspected to be a pretty bad oil leek in my older model vehicle.
I needed a loner car for what I imagined might be a long repair. Check!
I needed him to be honest with me about required repairs, especially if the cost would be more than my old car is worth. Check!
Rob's team inspected my car & found the leak as well as several other issues that needed repair. The estimate came within the day and was very thorough. Rob offered to review each item with me to help prioritize the repairs in terms of safety/necessity.
In the end, Rob helped me come up with a plan that I could live with in order to keep my car on the road for a little longer, while looking for a different vehicle.
I'm really grateful for the service, the respect for me and my situation, and Rob's easy nature and willingness to go above and beyond what I expected. Thanks Rob!
Elk Mountain Motors has definitely earned my future car care business, which, as it turns out, is a lot for one woman and a car!
I wish I had discovered you sooner as this was the most pleasant experience one can have, if you really do have to deal with the challenge & stress of a broken vehicle.

Rob gives top class service and updates. My car had been sitting for over seven years, and Rob started by giving me a very fair estimate to bring the car back into serviceable repair. He followed through by getting the work done with only a small amount over the initial estimate, and the car is running awesomely now.
I would highly recommend this shop to get the job done by experts and to end up with a car in full working order.

Been there 3x as I’m in the neighborhood. Rob and team are quick, honest, pragmatic and kind. They helped me out in an emergency breakdown situation without an appointment and I’ve found are trustworthy straight shooters about options and next steps. What more could you ask for?!

5 stars is not enough. Rob is a great guy and an even better mechanic. I have brought multiple different cars in over the years. Everything from spark plugs to transmission replacements. Always done quickly and perfectly. When one of our cars was going to need a lot of work (more than the car was worth) he told us that. We would not have known and we would have thrown more money into that car. Rob is incredibly honest, incredibly hard working and I trust him to do anything!
5 stars is not enough for the experience I have had with Elk Mountain Motors!

I recently bought a used car for my 16 year old and it had some minor problems, so I wanted it to be looked over from end to end to make sure it was safe for him to drive. I scheduled to have it looked at. Rob and the team provided me up dates via text and could have made more money off me with things like new brakes and control arms, but did what needed to be done now and told me it would be 3-4 months until it needed front brakes and said at some point after the brakes it would need new control arms. When you work with mechanics you want them to be honest and won’t try and take you to the cleaners. I loved that they were honest, and took the time to make sure we understood what was done and even showed us the bad part and what happened to cause the check engine light. Thanks Elk Mountain Motors.

Rob and the entire team at Elk Mountain Motors are awesome, the best car repair shop in Asheville. We have older cars that we've been trying to extend the life of before needing to buy new ones, and they've always been upfront and honest with suggested repairs, have great communication with us to discuss options and timeline, are super efficient, and very reasonable with their pricing. I recommend them to all my friends and family.
