Everything about the admiral was great- food, drinks service, atmosphere. I think we ordered almost everything on the menu and weren't disappointed by anything. I would highly suggest a visit.

Everything was absolutely amazing. We were very impressed!

Share review. Embed review. Write an update. Edit review. 1/26/2020. If it weren't for restaurant week, I might never have ventured to the Admiral, ...but happy that I did!. From the outside, it doesn't appear to be what it is on the inside... a fine dining experience. The food was above average.. That experience was further complimented by the Manager Lili Rauh, who went out of her way to assure us a first class evening.. . If I lived in West Asheville and could walk there, I would be a regular!

This was our first time here. It was restaurant week and we ate from the restaurant week menu which gives you three choices of three courses for $35. Our table had most of the items and all were very good. The server was excellent and the assistants kept the table cleared. Reservation are a must. We will return.

Delicious food, and friendly staff! We ordered a TON of apps and our server did a great job coursing them so we didn't get bombarded. He was very helpful with navigating the wine menu, he made sure we were always set up for the next course before the food hit the table and consistently checked in to make sure we had everything we needed but was not overbearing or rushing us in any way. We were all very pleased and look forward to coming back soon!

Food was pretty good, but not on par with what I have had there in the past. Service was slow. I also did not like being seated on a hard wooden bench with no seatbacks, with a view of a gas station (the "fireplace room.") That might be okay if going to our local BBQ joint, but not what I expect at a fine dining restaurant. A shame, because I have enjoyed myself there much more, before.

A little spendy, but high quality food, a nice ambience, and great service. I sat at the bar and had a few apps and a cocktail, and the bartender (Amelia?) was very friendly and helpful.

Some of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had happened here. The ever changing menu will have you stalking their website just to see what’s new. Get a reservation, go hungry, order one of everything. You’re welcome.

We did all internet the research before coming to town, but it was this recommendation from a friend that yielding the best meal of our trip. Such a cozy place, with great hospitality and wonderful food!

Fantastic creative dishes including locally sourced and sometimes foraged ingredients. Wait staff are exceptionally professional. This is our go to place for special occasions like anniversaries. I'm not a high end diner on a regular basis, but when called for, this is 'the spot' in West Asheville.

First of all we made reservations and they had everything prepped for us when we arrived. We came with our 1 year old daughter who is typically very well behaved in restaurants but we usually have places like this turn us away because they (other restaurants) believe kids take away from the atmosphere.

Earlier this year I wrote a bad review and since returned. The chef at the time I wrote my last review has moved on. They are back in the game. Had an excellent dinner with nice size servings. Wonderful mussels and arugula salad. Super service too. They also seemed more inclined, than in the past, to make slight modifications for gluten free options. Such as apple slices instead of bread with the pate. I would not recommend for celiac.

Great food, odd little location that somehow works. 15 years in business they must be doing something right. One of my favorites

Glad we were able to get a reservation while in Asheville for our daughter's wedding! Charming setting; our waiter was top notch (wish I could remember his name); and the food was spectacular. I am a "foodie" and it was hard not to order everything. There were 4 of us -- so we shared a couple of salads and small plates and 2 entrees. Hope to eat there on my next visit to Asheville!

Food was great, I got the pork and my husband got the chicken. The meats were probably some of the best we've tasted and perfectly cooked, we were a bit disappointed with the side dishes though. We got the Salami starter which wasn't our favorite. I wish the overall ambiance and vibe of the place would have been better, but thats okay! The drinks were phenomenal, my husband got an old fashioned and I ordered a Moscow mule which was one of my favorites I've ever had. I would recommend this place for drinks but not necessarily for a nice, sit down dinner.

Don't judge by the outside. A small run down looking building. The food, service and atmosphere inside is impeccable! Went off a suggestion from my wife while traveling for work. I had the quail and pork chop and they were amazing! You will not be disappointed if you decide to dine at The Admiral.

Great creative cocktails, delicious small plates. We had a great time and enjoyed every mouthful.

Hands down my favorite meal in Asheville. We got the mushrooms and the chicken, which went so well together it seemed like they should have been a meal in itself. The sauce was so savory and balanced and the chicken was perfectly cooked. I even had some leftover chicken on the trip back home, and it was still just as good!

Atmosphere was great. Food was OK. Service was poor. We sat outside and it seemed the waitress forgot about us. Drinks were left empty. Never came out to ask how our main course was and we sat waiting for the waitress for a good 15 minutes after eating.

I am an Asheville native and I can say that The Admiral has been my favorite restaurant in town for fine dining as long as I can remember. Incredible food, warm and attentive service, and such a fantastic experience. If your lucky enough to have Chuck prepare you anything on the menu you are in luck!

Very interesting ambiance that made me feel I’d dropped into a different time and place than here in Asheville. We are at the bar and our server was perfectly wonderful and attentive without being intrusive - as if our personal bartender/server. The potato gnocchi is to die for, as is the bread & butter and mushroom entree. I’ve traveled and lived all over the world and honestly, this is better than in Paris, Barcelona, Stockholm, or Istanbul. I’m still in love with the f

Great place located on Haywood Road. Very small so we did up sitting at the bar but the food is first rate very good service and a great bartender

Favorite place in Asheville. Amazing opinions. Always delicious. Never had anything less-than “I’d order it again” meal.

Laid back but sophisticated. Pricey but not exclusive. Good cocktails. Killer small plates. If you like good weird food, go!

Amazing food.. great service ... this is definitely a hidden gem! A must try if you’re a foodie.. all the appetizers were amazing and drinks were cheery on the top!

A hidden gem. The food was excellent and our server very attentive. My hubs had the pork chop which was huge and he enjoyed every bite. The lobster mushrooms were perfectly cooked and delicious as well. The goose liver moose was a pleasant surprise as well. The arugula salad was fresh, crisp and large enough to share. We also had a margarita and @3 beers and the check was just under $100. Recommend.

The food was delicious and just the right portion size. The customer service impeccable. Great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the drinks. The digestives were good too. I liked my chocolate orange peel digestive (forget the name). The beet appetizer was so tasty. My succotash was tasty and filling. My husband thought the pork chop was excellent And perfectly cooked. You won't be disappointed. Dress is a mix. You can dress up, but if you had to come casually dressed you could.

I feel like I should have just checked the current menu before deciding on this place as our fancy dinner spot on vacation. I am entirely sure this is a 5 star restaurant, but not on this visit for me. The menu options seemed fairly basic and limited as compared to some items I've been ogling over for the last few days in anticipation for this dining experience. Our server was great. The staff in general was very kind and attentive. The food we ordered was very good, but definitely nothing stood out about it. We shared the mussels and each got the small plate Delmonico steak. Very tender, although in my opinion maybe overly seasoned for such a small cut. The interior was a huge departure from the outside of the building. When you pull up you will wonder if you're in the right spot. The interior is elegant and modern. Clean and inviting. The cocktails seemed to look good as well although I passed this evening. I may look forward to giving this another try when I am back in town.

Loved!!! Do not be fooled by the concrete bunker outside, inside is cozy and reminds me a little of a Wisconsin Supper club, but nicer. The ambience is open kitchen/romantic and the staff are a well oiled machine! Fantastic service and delicious food! ......and don't get me started on the sweet corn ice cream!!!! If you are visiting Ashville - make this a must stop!
