Overall we had a nice weekend at Chetola. Staff were friendly and rooms clean. We were disappointed in the quality of dinner vs price. Also the pool area was insanity. There was a group in there screaming and throwing the kids across the pool so that others couldn’t enjoy without being body slammed by a flying child. It would have been nice if staff monitored the pool and enforced safety rules.

Didn't stay here, just had a romantic dinner on the patio watching the swans in the lake. The food was amazing!

Noteworthy details: Altogether a bad experience.
Service was poor. The staff seemed poorly trained, unhelpful and unfriendly.
The room at close to $600 per night, was without the normal facilities expected in this price range.
No bottled water. No mini bar. No robe and slippers. No vanity set in bathroom. In room A/C unit. Etc. Generally uninviting and drab.
Breakfast was terrible and not as ordered.
Dinner was worse. New potatoes were actually raw!
We will not return. A shame as the setting is beautiful

We didn't stay here but we went just to check out the grounds and mess around. It's beautiful. The restaurant even gave us free waters and sweet Teas when we got thirsty.

We ate at Timberlake's Restaurant twice this last weekend, though we did not stay in the resort. We found the atmosphere to be wonderful and the views super. The food was good and prices were very fair. Our waitress for both days was Mia, and she was truly wonderful. The restaurant is a bit hidden off the road, but definitely go search it out. It is worth your time.

Stayed here for a wedding and it's a beautiful resort in a convenient location. Enjoyed our stay at one of the condos where we had plenty of room and it was very quiet.

Fantastic resort located right next to everything Blowing Rock has to offer, yet secluded in trees and next to a large pond. The grounds are beautifully kept. We stayed in room 300, a suite. So very pretty and very spacious. We had massages at the spa, which were lovely. We enjoyed using the indoor pool and hot tub, as well as the fitness center. This place is peaceful and well run. I look forward to our next visit!

First...some positives. The staff were all, without exception, very friendly and helpful and the resorts grounds are beautiful with nice walking paths along the swan pond. What little food we had (we had reservations at local restaurants for dinners) was good. The location is perfect for walking into Blowing Rock.
However, for a room rate in excess of $500/night, you would expect top quality everything. At the Bob Timberlake Inn where the prices are higher and more luxurious accommodations than the lodge rooms are expected, the accommodations were far below expectations. Everything in the room was seriously dated.
The sheets on the king bed were an old set of polyester blend resulting in waking up in sweat – like sleeping in a plastic bag. The fitted sheet did not fit but had loose, worn gathering that caused the bottom sheet to bunch up under you while you slept. We have never experienced such poor quality linens in any hotel/inn. The bathroom was exceptionally dated with one small sink vanity. While using the jacuzzi tub, there was apparently a leak to the dining room below causing maintenance to bang on our door insisting to come in to check (even though there was a ‘do not disturb' sign on the door). We certainly did not expect such a plumbing issue. We might have known there was some structural issue because the floor in the room was obviously slanted.
The website states the Inn is a ‘bed and breakfast’ with complimentary breakfast. But we were charged $54 for breakfast, which was later refunded when we pointed this out. And though we were also promised a 10% discount for the inconvenience of a broken HVAC system throughout the inn, no discount appeared on our final invoice. We also had a dining room charge that wasn't ours, again, later corrected when we asked about it.
The staff has been responsive to our inquiries regarding incorrect billing, but you should not have to track down these mistakes and if you fail to scrutinize your bill, who knows what may be amiss. Compared to other first class inns we are familiar with – Fearrington House, Mast Farm Inn, Biltmore Inn and more – the Bob Timberlake Inn is a far cry from first class. We have been there twice – our first and our last.

My family and I have been coming here for at least 25 years. We travel from Winston Salem usually 2 or 3 times a year. We have never been disappointed with the staff or where we have stayed and we have stayed in the condos and in the lodge.
I have one request : get rid of these nasty geese that plague your grounds. We couldn't hardly walk around the lake without stepping in geese poop.
Thank you for having such a beautiful place to come and relax. We love it!!!!

VERY DISAPPOINTING. Spent two nights in a condo as a special getaway for my wife for mother's day. Could have stayed at Motel Six or Red Roof Inn and had the same results for a far smaller price...and maybe their TV would have worked. We booked this condo because of the gas logs. They would have been nice if they had worked. We called the desk and they sent a maintenance worker. He lit the pilot light and the logs worked for about an hour. As previously noted, the TV in the living area was useless. The directions given were no help. To top it off, what's a special weekend if you have to wash dishes? We could not get the dishwasher to work and could not locate any directions to help.
What a disappointing time. Would not stay here again nor recommend anyone else stay either.
