I have gone here a few times over the years. The prices are high, but the quality is high as well. I bought a beanie 5 years ago that still looks brand new. The staff is friendly on top of everything else.

In Blowing Rock, NC this is the place for outdoor and hiking gear and shoes. Those Keens caught my eye as my wife and I went inside. A minute or two for a separate staff person to come help us, as another staffer was there in the shoe area. A couple of try ons (as my shoe size in Keens can be 11 or 11 1/2) and I was ready to go; however, my wife who initially did not look the look of the bubble toe on the Keens (for women or men) was finally talked into trying a pair of Keens on and walking around in the shop. Comfort for her, and thus a pair of Keens for her and, of course, one for me. My last Keens were bought here about 6 years ago, are still quite comfortable and not showing wear, but sometimes you just have to spend a dollar or two and get more comfort, right? Yep.

I have been to this store several times while vacationing in Blowing Rock over the years. It is usually a regular stop when we are strolling around town and we usually find something we "need" when we are in there. Earlier this week (on Wednesday) we were in town and wanted to shop, but we were there before they opened at 10:00 am as posted on the front door (we were about 40 minutes early). My wife and I killed some time walking around and then found a nice spot to sit and wait for the last 20 minutes until opening time. At 10:05 am the front door was still locked, so we walked into the coffee shop next door, which I believe is affiliated with Footsloggers, and asked when someone would be opening the store. The young lady told us very matter of factly that they aren't opening at 10:00 am until Friday and that the days and hours have been changed, presumably because of Covid. In fact, they would not be open at all today. How hard is it to put a sign on the door that says they have changed the hours? We said we had been waiting more than 40 minutes and there was no apology and when we suggested that they post the correct hours on the door it was not even acknowledged. I checked their website and it has not been updated either and shows that they open at 10:00 am Mon. - Fri. Be considerate of your patrons or they may not be your patrons anymore.
